8 Life And Leadership Lessons From Arianna Huffington - Forbes

8 Life And Leadership Lessons From Arianna Huffington - Forbes | Leadership Advice & Tips | Scoop.it

Arianna Huffington is often described as authentic, intelligent, and humble female leader. Several weeks ago I’ve had a chance to hear Arianna speak to a large audience at HubSpot’s INBOUND conference, as well as a pleasure of talking to her afterwards, and I can tell you that this description of Arianna couldn’t be more accurate. We discussed success, work and life balance, and wise leadership. Below are some of the leadership and life lessons she talked about that stood out for me.

We need to become wiser about what/who we let rule our lives and take charge of our own success. But before we do, we need to make sure we have our own very clear definition of what “success” truly is. What’s your definition?

Four Essentials of Strength-Based Leadership

It is in human nature to look for negative in everything first. Most of the stories on the news are negative (after all, they draw the most attention).
Trish Sadar's insight:

Thank you Roy for sharing this article!

I personally am all in when it comes to tapping into our strengths as leaders.

I see the power, clarity, and confidence that leaders leverage when they know that they can leverage their strengths to help them achieve their goals.

Several of the leadership courses that we offer have used the Strengths Finder assessment together with their traditional 360 or replaced completely.

I particularly agree with the statement in the article:

Leadership is a privilege, not a right, and we need to treat it as such. Leadership means encouraging people to live up to their fullest potential and find the path they love. That, and only that, will create a strong culture and sustainable levels of innovation.

Please read the article to find out more about the ABCD of strength-based leadership.

Please do share with us your experiences with using Strengths Finder......Make it a great day!

Seems so obvious that any organization of size does not need 1,000 copies of the same person with the same talent. After all, what kind of football team would you have if you tried to make all the players great quarterbacks?

What's required in any organization, business, industry, military unit is a collection of people with different talents/strengths energized towards a higher purpose. A good leader's purpose is to recruit, grow, and mobilize these diverse people with diverse talents to work together -- that's when the magic can happen ... when the impossible becomes the achievable ... when obstacles become things to be hurdled ... when setbacks become opportunities ... and when the total of the organization becomes more than the mere sum of its people parts.
