Keaton Shoes: Classic English Shoes Made in Le Marche

Keaton Shoes: Classic English Shoes Made in Le Marche | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it

KEATON represents a knowledgeable ‘ look and feel’ of manufacturing relevant to the style and design of classical English Shoes, utilising the very best Italian artisan skills and traditions.
Only via the combination of the careful selection of components and materials coupled with the use of skilled artisan workers are we able to attain a product of such high quality, completely eco-combatable and long lasting over time.
Our shoes with the “Goodyear Welted” type of construction and their famous characteristics which are well known thanks to the space between the sole and insole being filled with cork agglomerate. This layer of cork allows for extra comfort and breathability as well as maintaining an even temperature for the foot and forms a comfortable anatomic shape to cradle the foot.
The type of artisan construction derived from hand stitching the sole to the upper using a leather welt, also allows the resoling and repairing of the shoes at any time and is relatively easy to do.
The choice of materials, plus natural first grade leathers, also gives the product an enhanced characteristic of water resistance and breathability.

Francesco De Santis Shoes - Hand Made to Measure

Francesco De Santis Shoes - Hand Made to Measure | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it

Every De Santis shoe is entirely hand-made, in up to 200 different phases.
When necessary, the best hands are chosen and guided by Francesco's expertise and creativity.

Measurements - Precisely Unique. Any work of art starts with a design. Clients are measured on at least four variables for each foot: length, width, and circumferences of arch and forefoot... Any specifics, problems and preferences are discussed with the client and built into the model for casting and subsequent assembly. Leather - Only the best materials go into Francesco De Santis' work. Style and elegance can only be reached through chosen pelts of croccodile, ostrich, python and compositions of braided kangaroo, and innovative painting and embroidery. Hemming - Many steps require finesse and precision. Outsoles are enriched, completed and associated with various components. More than just stiching: perforating, attaching, lining up non-linear items. Concentration and focus on the end-result are key, every last detail is rigourously handled. For a perfect result. Assembly - The leather, expertly carved starts taking shape. Stretched and fixed to the sole, it is now ready to stiching. Stitching - The heart of the assembly process, bringing major components together. Based on the model's requirements will apply time-enhanced techniques like norwegian or goodyear, with single-, double- or triple-stiching. Sitch-by-stich, all by hand and with single continuous threading. Finishing - Lengthy and painstaking steps of finishing are in the expert hands of craftsmen. Burring of the sole's edges, smoothing the heels and angles; a watchful eye and the experiences sensations of the hands percolate into a refined finish. Painting - Not just a dye. Strokes, brushes, sponges and buffing: manual handling that creat astonishing chromatic variations. Heat-based treatments then stabilse pigmentation and seal the unique results. Signing - The shoes is ready, yet is still requires attention: a signature line. Name, numbering and identification, dates - all elements that can be applied upon request to the sole, insides or heel for a truly personalised pair of shoes.

Santoni Shoes Le Marche: the production process in an HD vid

These are unique products, handcrafted by master shoemakers who passionately devote the same care every day and give equal attention to each of the amazing stages, from the creation of the wooden formers, the genesis of the article, continuing through to the polishing and thorough final inspection.

The manual cutting of the leather, the hand stitching, in different styles of footwear, the use of fine leathers even for the whole insole, the choice of the best materials (from rubber to cork, to three-dimensional and innovative synthetic mixtures, such as Vibram), together with time and knowledge of shapes, make each creation an excellent product.
