Man everytime I make a mix it’s like cooking a meal.  This tribute mix for George Michael was more than just a mix for me but it also a tribute to 2 of the best Dj’s I’ve ever known, Stuart Gardner and Daz Wright.  Anyone who knows anything about the Atlanta Dj community knows that these 2 guys were real dj legends.  Not industry dudes looking for a come up but 2 guys who just loved the music.  George Michael was a very pivotal artist for these guys when they were spinning and Michael’s passing just brought these two guys back to mind.  Really great djs.

On this mix I did a BeatMakanixxx mix of the Bonnie Rait classic I CANT MAKE YOU LOVE ME (I was so lucky to find a live performance by Michael and truly a performance that showcases George Michael’s real talent.  George Michael may have been an industry pushed artist but this dude’s talent was for real.  I wanted to show that in my DjSingleMixxx.  I also mixed in some classic FATHER FIGURE, CARELESS WHISPER and I WANT YOUR SEX, all songs that were a reflection of the time when George Michael was hot (The pretty people era #lsmh).

This was a touching mix and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it.  Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”

With The passing of the Great performer George Michael, GetAtMe had to do a tribute mix and we were fortunate to find the great live perfiormance of I CANT MAKE YOU LOVE ME performed by Michael. We gave it a driving beat #4DaDjNU and it turned out to be one of my favortie mixes I've done. I hope (for the George Michael fans and others...) that this mix will become a favorite of theirs also. #GetAtMe

Man you know 2016 have been hard on the music fans.  This year we have lost such huge legends and it just a reminder that the hands of time just keep on moving.  George Michael, to put it simply, was blessed with chemistry and time finally has called him home.

George Michael was truly a part of the music machine that developed and drove artist to fame.  With his model looks and narrative singing tone, George Michael truly lived his life like a “Careless Whisper” (this dude was blessed…).  Millions of female fans fell in love with this pop icon at the height of the Miami Vice movement, it was the pretty people era from New York, Paris, LA and Miami.  George Michael was the poster boy for the pretty people.  Even when it became apparent that Michael lived in an alternate lifestyle, his fans embraced the music over the gossip.  His fans loved him.

With well lyrically crafted songs and very emotional performances, George Michael was the truth.  Noone can really say that when this artist emerged in the group Wham, that we were witnessing the birth of a pop icon.  His music will live through the ages.
