Okay here’s this week’s top 3. We took a moment because we here at GetAtMe are very conscientious of the numbers being as right as possible (since my situation is small, I have the luxury of trying to be right as opposed to being paid for clients to look like their winning. I make this stance so that the dj’s, fans and urban radio can have at least one source they can look to for the correct numbers. We monitor mixtapes, online, urban radio plays and retail. I made a choice not to monitor streams because it was too easy to game the system for some as I’m sure you will already know…) I’m cool with my choice. So at the end of the day, I’m cool with all of my handicap picks in new hit music. No fluff just numbers... With that being said, here’s this week’s picks
Lil Wayne UPROAR 33.1 pts (out of 50 pts) grade B… This is the hot new cut and the album is loaded with great dj cuts ( START THIS SHIT OFF RIGHT ft Ashanti & Mack Maine is the smoker… #InTheMix ) This one is definitely… #InRotation (99bpm)
Sheck Wes MO BAMBA 9 pts grade B-… This cut has come straight out of the mid (or concrete…) of New York. This started out as an industry push and now it’s a for real hit in the top 12 markets…(75bpm)
Calvin Harris PROMISES 30.7 pts grade B-… This is another hit from Calvin Harris (the one person who should be able to do a hit is a dj…) Harris adds another hot track to his resume… ( 123bpms)
That’s this week’s GetAtMe Top 3 hits. Remember “Theres Nothing Wrong With The Record Business That A Good Record Can’t Cure”
After seeing this young lady perform at Timeless Tuesday Atl, it just confirmed what I always believed that, Kiara is special. This doll sized package with this mature voice and presence that captivated the audience of Timeless Tuesday (an artist showcase at Soul Village at on Lil 5 Points…) with a masterful performance that held the audience in suspense. Although it was her first performance it was clear that the stage and Kiara were comfortable companions (to be continued…)
We decided to do a dance mix to Kiara NicoleALL THAT MATTERS (#ForTheDjNU) so enjoy this new djsinglemix by Dj Reggie Redd (TheBeatMakanixxx). “There nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
Laine London is a new dance artist (another HipHouse artist in the making…) With her new cut DROP DAT moving through the streets (next stop mixtape/online…) Laine has all the makings of a new hit with DROP DAT. Laine has an aggressive dance style of music and that’s why we made this mix (BeatMakanixxx DjSingleMix…) with such energy and power. Here’s the stats:
TRACK 4.6 pts ($$$$) This track has crazy energy (and you know how we love energy…) The breaks are great as we rock to this HipDancePop track. This track is so dancefloor friendly… #OhTheNrg
PERFORMANCE 4.4 ($$$$) Laine’s voice has an unbridled power that has the tonal impact of a trumpet (this cut sounds straight like a marching band feature cut…) This debut performance really makes us look forward to all her new music… #ImpactPerformance
MUSCLE 2.8 pts ($$) This cut has all the potential of a viral situation in the streets. Even though it’s not a straight street cut, the dance community should be drawn to the cut. Online will do its thing if the echoes from the streets sound are loud enough … #OhTheBuzz
JUICE 1.7 pts ($) Clubs djs might really feel this one (especially the more pop oriented adult entertainment clubs…) The cut will have to prove itself in the other 3 areas (streets, mixtape/online and clubs, which it will do…) for radio to give this cut a fair shot (or they gonna need real New York bread to win…)
HITFACTOR 3.2 pts ($$$) Live performances and the video ( together…) can deliver this cut. With the right video (really the right one…) this cut can get all the attention it needs and the interest will be delivered by the club energy. Like I said, live performances and viral youtube opens the door for this cut… #CheckOutTheVideo
SONG 3.9 pts ($$$) I like this song, great production and the performance is delivered by Laine London (These horns on here sound like a ‘Call to battle in Gabriel’s army of angels…” #frfr
TOTAL 20.6 pts (30 pts highest score) grade B… This cut got a “B’ and that’s high for a new indie. This is a good cut and execution will be the key to its winning... A great video will be essential to gather enough attention to drive interest (it really needs to be great and creative…) As always Live performance creates echoes in the other 4 corners so Laine London need to “get gigging…”
Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”

Dj Neek debuts her Dj Single Mix series with a core track from Battle Rapper SBDaG (who said batlle rapper couldn't do regular music...). SBDaG delivers hi
We decided here at GetAtMe (after long comtemplation) to start a street series for or djs. The reason we were hesitant was that we felt that corner was already served but after some encouragement from some folks, we decided to give it a try. So we will call the series '10'. That will include 10 hot new street cut handicaps (picks). We also will have one mix in the series as a pick. These are the ten handicaps for this series and as you see Gucci Mane leads the pack (that should be no surprise...). These are the ten cuts you should check out now as a dj.
Alessia Cara quietly is being a trend setter. Her music is different. In it’s own way it’s becoming the voice for a new generation of Hip Pop consumers. This generation has different ideas about entertainment and different ideas about culture. Like she state’s in her new cut ‘WILD THINGS’, “we don’t care if you don’t like our 808 and we make our own breaks…” Cara appears to be quiet and shy but is she really just silently strong and just an old soul in her youthful frame. As she states in ‘HERE’, “I’ll be over here…”. She’s attractive and seems to be from the generation that overstands social media and knows how to use it to her advantage. In her video of ‘WILD THINGS’ she is communicating to a new crew of consumers that are on their way to either a mall job, college university or their own startup. Not a gang but definitely a crew who’s just out doing their thing till that right thing comes along. Check out Alessia Cara’s ‘WILD THING’. This is GetAtMe and #ILikeDatt #ItsAboutTheMusic #GetAtMe
GetAtMe3PcSnack ft MarqDean Exotixxx Beyonce Prince is a RnB / Hip Hop Mix uplaoded by GetAtMe in Feb 2016 - On this GetAtMe3PcSnack we spotlight Marq Dean's new hiphouse cut 'EXOTIXXX' (calling all exotics to the dance floor...) and then we blend into Beyonce's Live SuperBowl performance of 'FORMATION' (even live this track i shot..). We then blend into a great remix of the Prince classic 'GET OFF' (the energy on this remix is crazy..). That's this GetAtMe3PcSnack
CNew music from Cardi B Check it out. #ItsABoutTheMusic
Reginald Shipman's insight:
Cardi B is already an interesting character on the LoveAndHipHopNewYork series. So when this hit my desk, I was curious. It caught my ear and I knew that 'FREAKY GIRL' was the perfect break for this cut. We love doing this kind of mix at TheBeatMaKanixxx. (Man I hope they change this name to 'I LIKE THAT' for radio (hint, hint...) 125bpms #ItsAboutTheMusic
On this GetAtMe 3PcSnack we profile this week’s Hot New Music (the new Logic ft Wu Tang WU TANG almost made this mix but these 3 cuts were the real contenders.
Dua Lipa (24.3 pts out of 35) is on a real roll (her last hit IDGAF topped the charts…) This new cut LOSE MYSELF is certified. This cut is so well written and once again Dua’s growing fanbase of young women will be on this cut like a Tumblr blog. This cut is beautifully written and performed… #LoseMySelf
Cardi B RING (23.6 pts) This cut is another smoker off the Cardi B album. Radio’s gonna love this cut and again the female demos are well targeted. The growth from Cardi on this song is the real focus point here. This is a great song (ft Kelanie) with a great performance, strong lyrics and story and great production. Cardi is really on some next level moves… #Ring
Lil Wayne FAMOUS (23.3 pts) Finally the Carter V is here and this cut FAMOUS by Lil Wayne ft his daughter Reginae is another hot new single (most are going for the single MONA LISA ft Kendrick Lamar but this cut FAMOUS is the real deal (radio is gonna love this cut…) Great lyrics and content are the leads on this cut and this cut is the Lil Wayne we all love. The paring of him and his daughter was a clever move as it brought not only loyal Lil Wayne followers but it also created a new youthful corner due to his daughter’s online presence (hmm where Lucci on this cut… #JustSayin)… #Famous
That’s this GetAtMe 3PcSnack ft Dua Lipa, Cardi B and Lil Wayne. Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
I'm always ready for a war again Go down that road again It's all the same I'm always ready to take a life again You know I'll ride again It's all the same (ooh, ooh, ooh) Tell me who's gon' save me from myself When this life is all I know Tell me who's gon' save me from this hell Without you, I'm all alone
Who gon' pray for me? Take my pain for me? Save my soul for me? 'Cause I'm alone, you see If I'm gon' die for you If I'm gon' kill for you Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
I fight the world, I fight you, I fight myself I fight God, just tell me how many burdens left I fight pain and hurricanes, today I wept I'm tryna fight back tears, flood on my doorsteps Life a livin' hell, puddles of blood in the streets Shooters on top of the building, government aid ain't relief Earthquake, the body drop, the ground breaks The poor run with smoke lungs and Scarface Who need a hero? (hero) You need a hero, look in the mirror, there go your hero Who on the front lines at ground zero? (hero) My heart don't skip a beat, even when hard times bumps the needle Mass destruction and mass corruption The souls are sufferin' men Clutchin' on deaf ears again, rapture is comin' It's all prophecy and if I gotta be sacrificed for the greater good, then that's what it gotta be
Who gon' pray for me? Take my pain for me? Save my soul for me? 'Cause I'm alone, you see If I'm gon' die for you If I'm gon' kill for you Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
Hey, hey Hey, hey Hey, hey Hey, hey
Who gon' pray for me? Take my pain for me? Save my soul for me? 'Cause I'm alone, you see If I'm gon' die for you If I'm gon' kill for you Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey
Just in case my faith go I live by my own law I live by my own law I live by my own Just in case my faith go I live by my own law I live by my own law I live by my own
On the new Drake cut GET IT TOGETHER (probably the real hit off the album,) is a new voice that stands out. That voice is Jorja Smith. (Black Coffee is also on the cut…). Why does Jorja’s voice stand out? Well it’s because her voice is an eerie combination of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill (I’m not joking…). With that voice and her very euro cosmo struggling model Tumblr look, well it’s gonna be hard for her to miss as an artist (that is of course if her people make sure that she is on hit songs and not just very artistic song that will be targeted to a limited market segment…)
BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOLS is a great song (it might not be a hit but it is an excellent showcase for this new talent. GET IT TOGETHER although is a flat out hit (with a break beat that sounds very similar to IM TO GOOD FOR YOU… hmmm). This cut is a strong cut and urban radio will love this cut if they go on it. BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOLS although is just a great song, especially for the online community and keep in mind that sometimes cuts that are narrowly targeted to a particular market segment suffers in the other 4 segment in the 5 segments area (streets, online, clubs, radio and retail). Usually these 5 segments have to work in concert for you to have a smash hit. BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOLS will definitely have challenges in the clubs and streets and currently there is no retail movement. That’s why Drake’s GET IT TOGETHER is an excellent medium for hiphop to meet this new and talented voice.
Maybe this “BEAUTIFUL THING” will GET IT TOGETHER and become one of the great new hiphop voices. The potential is definitely there. Jorja has the look and her talent is unique. All of that make for an exciting combination waiting to emerge. Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the music business that good music can’t cure…”

As I’ve said over and over again. I love to find hit songs. So when I saw this cut that was getting crazy request numbers on Atlanta’s V103, I had to see what was up. 1 it was a new artist and 2 Usher was the feature not the artist. I mean who was this new artist that Usher was the feature?
Yuna is an established Malaysian artist who’s sound fit right in there with what I call the ‘HOOKAH INVASION’. This is the music that Drake started, that The WeekNd Built and now other artist are following suit like Bryson Tiller (man ya’ll can’t wait to hear DVSN Drake new find on soundcloud, oooh weee…#Hallucinations). But it’s not like Yuna is a copycat, no all her music sounds like this cut. A sort of Sade meet’s hiphop (I know Jhene Aiko is going WTF…). ‘CRUSH’ ft Usher Is great riding music and the tumblrites are gonna love this cut as much as they have loved The WeekNd, Bryson Tiller or Drake. Oh there’s the rub, can a female sell to these Tumblrites that are owning online sales right now. Will they give Yuna the same allegiance that they have given Drake (maybe Drake should’ve been featuring on this cut? Hmmm…).
Marq Dean's music is his passion. Like he said it's in his DNA. Marq Dean is on a mission to Make HipPopHouse a mainstrean staple in the music business (who doesn't want to dance?). Wait a minute, ain't HipPopHouse #HPH really just disco? Yeah it might be another term for it's name but it all about just great dance energy and music. #ItsAboutTheMusic
