This week on the R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart, The Weeknd reigns supreme at #1 with his single “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk.

Okay here’s our GetAtMe Top Ten in HipHop sales for the week of 5/9/2016.  Drake’s ONE DANCE is #1.

• Drake’s ONE DANCE takes num1 with over 20,000 downloads daily (this dudes on a roll…) and Desiigner’s PANDA stays at num2 (this cut is legit…)
• Beyonce held down both the 3 & 4 slots with FORMATION and HOLD UP respectively (Beyonce has 5 cuts in the top 10…)
• Fifth Harmony WORK FROM HOME came in at num 5 reentering the top 10 (these girls just keep on selling…) and also reentering is FloRida’s MY HOUSE (the NBA loves this song during the playoffs…)
• At num 7 is Beyonce again with SORRY (had the most spin increases in urban radio this week with over 700 spins…) and at num 8 is Drake’s new cut TOO GOOD (another smash…)
• Rihanna’s NEEDED ME is num 10 (on her way back to the top…) and Beyonce rounds out the top 10 with 6INCH (ft The WeeKNd…)

That’s this weeks GetAtMe TopTen HipHop Sales.  It seems that Beyonce drove everyones numbers up to a total 110,275 from 46,782 (a gain in 63,993 in increased sale average in the top 10).  Prince’s death, Beyonce’s and Drake’s album releases ran the charts up.

Oh yeah the doubters were in the threads, the blogs, the forums and all over but once again the fans have had the final say.  Desiigner’s PANDA is the #1 Rap record in the country (no hype, no bluff, real numbers…) with over 20,000 (count em) downloads in one day(Panda, Panda, Panda…).  I love it.

I love when the fans deliver a hit.  There were many out there who looked sideways when Hot 97 in New York went on this record but it looks like Ebro and the crew had the ear that mattered.  Congrates to this young man who has achieved probably way more at this point than he could have ever imagined a mixtape ago.  NUMBER ONE RAP RECORD IN THE COUNTRY…. (Panda, Panda, Panda…).

Desiigner's PANDA is heading up the itunes chart reaching the itunes top 50.  Also it came in at #4 on the rap/hiphop chart.  At the end of the day, it's about the sales and remember, #RealFansBuy  #ItsAboutTheMusic

This music stuff get’s sillier by the day. I mean it’s getting to the point that we really have to question if it’s really still a business. Every since we have experienced the closing of mall store in communities that sold music and have tried to rely on online sales, the foolishness seems to know no end.
Look sales figures event ticket sales are the only way to gauge value in the music business. Streams are not committed sales. A committed sale is when a fan reaches in their pocket or on their phone and purchase. That’s business. Rigging the sales numbers and hoping that a major corporation is stupid or too lazy to check your figures, is not business (see the difference).
So when folks tell major reporting agencies I’m not reporting my sales figures well that reeks of a con or( more so probably the case) poor sales numbers. It really looks like there is something that someone is hiding.
Look here’s the truth. An online sale is a licensing arrangement, not a record sale and the majors (by judges order) now are obligated to have 50/50 arrangement with artist (I’m sorry you management didn’t get the memo. It was only a major news story online…) so the labels have created this movement of dealing with the streaming situations even to the point of trying to make up a definition of a certain amount of streams are sales (now you know that’s just stupid...) A sale is a sale and a stream is a stream.
Look these guys at these companies really aren’t just that stupid so for us to continue to have hiphop be a viable business entity then we in hiphop have got to do better business and understand business better. Everything is not always a hustle and it s not always about the money (unless you’re broke or a lazy thinker…)

In our mission to always remind yall that sales matter (these numbers are based on sales per day...), we decided to be more aggressive about posting the  numbers hoping that as artist you can get your fans to get you in the itunes top 100.  As you can see to achieve this all you need is a little over 800 downloads a day (perspective...)  That's 80 downloads an hour in a 10 our dayslot time span (40 in a 20 hour timeslot.  That's roughly 10 downloads per 15 minutes... #TheMath).  Time to get your true fans on it.  Remember #RealFansBuy and #RealDjsLoveHits

Yall know here at GetAtMe I’m a stickler for the real sales numbers ( I personally can’t do nothing with bad numbers…) so it’s important for me to make sure yall have the right numbers.  Here’s this week’s top ten in total single sales.

• Cardi B BODAK YELLOW stays at num 1 with over 50,000 single sales in one week ( a hit is a hit…) and at num 2 is Post Malone ROCKSTAR with over 40,000 downloads in single sales… (this dude’s buying audience is for real…)
• At num 3 is Logic 1 800 273-8255 with over 30,000 units sold and at num 4 is Yo Gotti RAKE IT UP with 17,000 plus units…
• At num 5 is French Montana UNFORGETTABLE with over 16,000 units sold this week (this cut is over 500,000 sold legit… #LegitGold ) and at num 6 is Khalid YOUNG DUMB & BROKE with over 14,000 units sold…
• At num 7 is Post Malone again with I FALL APART (this dudes fans are real buyers…) with over 14,000 units sold (his second cut on the chart…) and at num 8 is Blackbear DO RE MI (this is a real dj cut…) with over 12,000 units sold…
• At num 9 is Calvin Harris FEELS with over 11,000 units sold and at num 10 is Kendrick Lamar HUMBLE with also over 11,000 units sold…

It’s the New Year and as we always say,”the truth is in the sales numbers.”  The Migos BAD & BOUGIE starts the year off at num 1 (these sales came out of nowhere, #hmmm …).  Rae Sremmurd BLACK BEATLES ( a real strong cut…) falls to num 2.  Drake FAKE LOVE is num 3 (another strong contender…) The WeekNd STARBOY is still holding strong and so is DRAM BROCCOLI.   John Legend is back on the chart with LOVE ME NOW and Rihanna LOVE ON THE BRAIN is slowly moving up the chart.  Amine CAROLINE (this cut is amazing because the sales are so strong.  This is clearly a west coast thing…) and The WeekNd 2nd cut on the chart I FEEL IT COMING is at num 9.  Big Sean BOUNCE BACK (getatme handicapped) comes in at num 10.

It’s the new year and happy New Year to all.  Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”

There’s this crazy new thing I’m hearing from artist (and managers…), that the sales don’t matter (“just tell them to give me the bread, this sh*ts hot…#IfIHadADollaWhen). This by far is the craziest thing for somepne to say and it signals to music industry predators that you are a meal for the taking (and they are always hungry…)
Remember the it THE MUSIC BUSINESS (with the emphasis on the word business…) and the main objective in any business is sales. Comments like these are the cornerstones to artist not understanding their relationship with the fans and the label. Sales is the ultimate leverage position (not I got a hot song, I don’t know where that idea came from…) and if your sales are at the top of the pile, then you as an artist wind up on top of the food chain. Its that simple…
Remember “there nothing wrong with the record business that a good record cant cure…”

People have a hard time really coming to terms that the fans pick their hits.  Even with all the doubters (in New York & Atlanta), PANDA has found its way to #1.  The fans as I've said over and over, buy what they want, not what they're told.  At the end of the day the SuperBowl in HipHop is itunes and then Billboard.  PANDA has conquered both.  "PANDA, PANDA, PANDA..."

Okay we had to make another chart just for hip hop because the sales difference between hiphop and hip pop were so varied.  We feel it is of the utmost importance that the djs are aware of what’s selling so that they can better serve their audience (songs that are selling are usually hits…).  So we decided to provide both hiphop and hip pop sales figures.

Rihanna's WORK still stays at the top (of retail and radio…) and Desiigner’s PANDA (this month’s surprise…) came in at num 2 with over 6000 downloads daily (“I thought sales didn’t matter…).  At num 3 is Kevin Gates 2 PHONES (this cut is legitimately strong…) and at num 4 is Jeremih's OUI (also a quiet creeper…).

Like I’ve always said here at GetAtMe #WeLoveTheHitSong. That’s why everytime we handicap a winner it’s like we earned our wings. Why because it’s about the music for us. I like picking songs that Dj’s can feel and like. I like giving the Dj’s the best informed choice on a hot new song. I respect the Dj’s time not to burden them with cuts that just might not make the mix but somebody’s got some money.
Look there nothing wrong with paying for placement, that business. Stores charge for product placement all the time with endcaps. But for djs (the ones who love the music and the mix…) there is a magic that happens when fans like and appreciate a great blend. So when we pick cuts like ‘PANDA’ we picked it because we liked the music and we wanted like minded djs to also have an informed choice.
Like I say over and over again, “sales are the endgame and the promotions cannot become the distraction…” At the end of the day real fans have to engage by buying something (and a $1.00 is not that hard of commitment #ReflectOnThat).
So congrats to Desiigner’s ‘PANDA’. Your journey is just beginning. (First the fans, Then the djs, that’s the path of a hit song…)
