Look there is probably no personality more polarizing in hiphop like Azealia Banks (which is crazy because there are few in hiphop who are as talented as her. This chick’s wordplay is crazy #frfr) Azealia its seems as times has developed her brand as being the loudest kid in this class called hiphop (which is also crazy because her talent speaks for itself…) and at times her positions (and antics…) have overshadowed a truly talented artist (but don’t get me wrong, she has a right to speak her mind. No matter who disagrees…) At times Azealia’s drive to be heard is over shadowing people’s ability to hear and truly judge her talent (which I believe is truly a disservice to her…) I hope this is not the case with LOVE BEATS RHYMES because just the trailers for this movie lets us know that this project is really special (especially as a voice for hiphop in today dialogue on the world stage of entertainment…)
This movie, directed by SZA and starring Azealia Banks, Common and Jill Scott ( #IKnowRight ) It has a loaded hiphop cast and explores the convergence of the worlds hiphop, poetry, spoken word and battlerap from the eyes and lives of it characters and Azealia’s character “Coco” is the center of this story. This is a dream role for anyone and Azealia nailed it as seen from the trailers. So why is hiphop ignoring this great movie (maybe they haven’t heard about it, and it just opened on Dec 1st). This movie should be this year’s 8 Mile (since it’s like 8 Mile and Love Jones combined. How can that fail?)
Let’s hope this movie will get its due as a total project and not be the victim of an anti Azealia ignore campaign, which I’m just gonna say “just isn’t right…” Why, because this thing looks like great entertainment. Go check out LOVE BEATS RHYMES.
