GetAtMe Did HipHop learn anthing from the tragic death of such a rising star, Doe B... #DidWeLearnAnything | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

Wow it’s hard to believe that it’s been 3 years since the news hit that Doe B, an up and rising hiphop rapper from Montgomery Ala was shot while at a local club in his hometown (dude was really about to blow #FRFR).  It’s amazing how 15 seconds have changed the destinies and lives of so many in Montgomery (like I said, he was about to blow up…)

An altercation (that supposedly stemmed from Doe B not getting an individual he knew in the club…) escalated in to 3 people dead and now 3 more going to jail for some time (15 seconds….)  What would have been if those 15 seconds were different?

The real question is, did HipHop learn anything from this tragic moment that took away such a promising star.  Are the beefs in HipHop worth the potential of the wrong 15 seconds?  Are at times the beefs becoming bigger than the music (click bait…)?  If that is the case then we in hiphop have some real soul searching to do and somehow have to come up with a better way.

I had just finished a review of Doe B’s cut ‘LET ME FIND OUT’ (a great cut that would have put this dude on the map like a southern Biggie…) and when the new broke I thought to myself, wow what a difference 15 seconds made in this young man’s destiny.  At least I hope HipHop tried to learn from this tragedy as this talent was taken away to early from his fans, over something that was way to small an issue…
