GetAtMe 14 year old Jayna Brown blows RISE Up out of the building on America's Got Talent... #ItsAboutTheMusic | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

Andra Day’s cut RISE UP is not only a great song but it’s a flat out hit song.  I first heard about this song last year when I was going to use the RISE UP break in an Atlanta Falcons remix I was doing.  I remember saying “man this is a great song…”  I looked at the songs movement over the months and I saw sales but nowhere near the sales that this great song should’ve had (man its crazy #frfr).  This was really a great song.

Well as this song went into recurrent heaven I just charged it to another example of a great song looked over because someone was too busy trying to look right as opposed to being right (let me be clear, this song should have easily sold like Whitney Houston’s THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL.  This song is that hot.  Really it’s a great song and Andra day gave a startling performance on the song (If Adele had done this song it would have easily been number 1….).

We’ll Jayna Brown blew this song out of the building the other night on America’s Got Talent and 2.9 million YouTube views later, the world has found their new great voice (just like Susan Boyle…).  Jayna has a great back story and the world loves it’s when an underdog turns the game upside down (will this 14year older be able to become our next Jennifer Hudson?).  Why is her back story great?  Because Jayna was homeless in Baltimore (I don’t think she gonna be homeless for long now…).  Yes I saw that look in Simon’s eye (Cowell) like ‘I’ve just found my next winning situation…’

Is Jayna our next Whitney Houston (this girl has power and control)? I don’t know but what I do know is that she took a great song and gave a great performance and this is why you let fans do covers because now all her friends, new followers and new fans now have heard a song through the voice of a fan (we shouldn’t be trying to charge Jayna for that, let the Jayna’s of the world get that YouTube money…).  When fans choose to add their special to already a great song, well that gives that great song a longer shelf life and that’s why you let fans be the foundation of an organic viral movement (the fans have real followers, not bought ones…).

Congrats to Jayna for letting the world know how great of a song RISE UP is and for letting us know what an exceptional new talent she is and allowing us to see her star begin to shine.  Now that’s what this business of music should be about.
