Man it's really funny. We at GetAtMe were probably the 1st blog to play "Pour It Up, " in a Mashup video (remix video). On our GetAtMeShow on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl-5iIWQkEM back on December 20th 2012. We are amazed that this record went all the way to the top in airplay on the BDS chart without an offficial video. I mean it now has been exactly 3 months, 1 quarter and 5 days since we 1st posted that video on our scoop it blog. Now this song has 4381 spin in urban radio reaching an audience of 35,296 million listeners. Wow, and all of that with no official video. the mashup videos delivered this song with the streets and radio. No public relation company or promotions team did this. The fans did this. As a matter of fact Def Jam allowed certain online licensing groups to try to extort bloggers, and now that the song is a hit. Def Jam has released this Mashup video for the fans (it really good also). My point is this. The labels have got to get a hand on these online trolls that are calling themselves a licensing group but they are really PR firms trolling the web looking for easy budget from the labels. The problem we're having in this business is to many people want to be overpaid to be lazy and in power so someone can call them boss..
Here at GetAtMe let me let you know right now. It's not about the money. We love new and creative ideas and great music. if it's a hit we're gonna get behind it. If it's creative, we're gonna get behind it. What is that we like. it's to win. Not just to be right or to get paid. We want to expose the best as soon as we hear it ( like the Juicy J & WeekEnd "One Of Those Nights"., this is a smash waiting to happen).
We love Rihanna. It's amazing that the online media uses every chance to trash her (not all, but some), but still want the money from the advertising traffic that Rihanna's antics drive online. They have no problem collecting that check while turning the spotlight of her lifestyle on at full blast. Some of these people are like judgemental greedy little pigs, but that's the business.
Here at GetAtme we're just glad to celebrate the hit song, the new act or the trend that emerging on the Hip Hop scene today.
Some one recently questioned me on whether i ever got upset at some of the media trolls who are just copying and getting access to budgets. my answer to them is no. If you are not doing anything good noone will copy you and I never was in this for the money. I was in this for the enjoyment of the new talent.
So it really make me happy and somewhat in awe that this record is at the top of the food chain in a indusrty that has become to mired in politics and bullshit. Man let's just get back to selling good music.
Rihanna, you a GetAtMeGoGetter and to everyone who is a true fan, they will love the artist and support them (even without a budget). Some of you new artist really need to heed this.
