This week GetAtMe hits the road we are visiting with Wired 96.5 in Philly. One thing about doing the hiphoproadshow is that you never know where you’re gonna land and when you get there what you’re gonna hear on the station. This station says it’s a hip hop and R&B station but this station is a fully functioning Churban station, but don’t get it twisted this station brings it. It took me a long time for me to review a station in Philly (I don’t know why..) but now that I’ve heard Wired 96.5, I’m sure I was tripping. This was not what I expected for a hip hop station in Philly.
The energy for this station is one big ass party. I mean from the late night right into the morning it was go (does anyone sleep in Philly?).
Dan Hunt’s is the PD and Buster Satterfield is the Music director and the station sounds good. This station is a good blend of churban energy and hip hop combined with pop music. Yeah this station really plays all the hits from all genres of pop and hip hop (for real). My hat’s off to these guys.
Also I want to commend them on their web presence. This web site looks good. It moves and it’s informative (good job Stephanie McGinley webmaster). It really does a good job of incorporating the web with the station. Especially on The Big Philly Show. The Instagram Twitter incorporation into the morning show to engage the morning audience is brilliant and it sounds like just plain good radio. I’m a big fan of local morning shows (because I need someone who can tell me what’s in my city when I wake up) and these guys are really (The Big Philly Show) a great wake up crew.
I’m going to enjoy this week of listening.
