GetAtMe-MarketView-Busta Rhymes - Thank You (Lyrics On Screen) Ft. Q Tip, Lil Wayne & Kanye West

“Thank You” Busta Rhymes ft Q-Tip, Kanye West, Lil Wayne

Now no one can say they thought Young Money would have ever done this (#Really).  This is clearly a New York record (and it may work for New Yorkers).  First of all, I’m a Buster fans and it’s hard for me not to like a Buster record ( there I said it) so I’m biased.  I like this record.  This is a great club record for the Urban Nights crowd.  The pretty people are going to love this song but I’m not sure the streets are going to understand this rsong.  You gotta really love and understand hip hop to appreciate this record, but maybe hip hop need to understand that hip hop has a new generation that has its own likes and needs (I mean people loved the Lindy Hop during its days and the Roger Rabbit as a dance).

I like this song.  All these guys are great on this.  The performance, the beat, the hook, but what I hope I’m not hearing is the arrogance of old hip hoppers not respecting a new generations ideas and dreams (remember Q-Tip, hip hop wasn’t initially received with open arms from the music industry R&B executives.).  If this was” we’re just trying to do a great song”, cool.  If this was a stealth attempt to straighten the likes of a Kendrick Lamar or a Trinidad James for their statements, remember guys the fans, not you have the final say at the sales counter.

This is a great record.  I just hope this isn’t the last stand for “GrandPa Rap”.  You guys are great, respect the fans from all the generation (realtalk).  Other than that, I love this record.  Here’s the Marketview:

THE STREETS- 3($$$) this is a great record in the streets of New York but there’s more to the market than New York…..

MIXTAPES- 3($$$) same thing here, great in New York but in other markets, ???????

THE CLUBS- 4($$$$) real dj’s are gonna love this song but will plays in the club translate into sales?.........

RADIO- 3($$$) radio’s gonna put this one in cruise control.  If the streets love it they’ll bang it out.   If not they’ll give it a 4 week window……..

BUZZ- 2(ZZ) it’s a creeper, probably stronger in a few weeks….

THE WILDCARD- 5($$$$$) the wildcard on this song is the performances and the lyrics.  These guys got down (but wait aren’t they supposed to, I mean it is Kanye West #ImJustSayin)…

TOTAL- 20pts out of 30pts( grade B)  The wild card saved this ranking, why because these guys are supposed to do a great song, now let see if it will be a great hit (for all generation not just their crew)
