GetAtMe ItsTheBusiness What caused Iggy Azalea to lose popularity fast in 2014-2016? ... #Hmmm | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

really the answer is sort of embarrassing. Iggy has always (to this day put out quality cuts…) as a dj very few times has Iggy released a track that lacked energy or wasn’t relevant to whatever she was trying to convey. Iggy experienced an unconscious bigotry from hip hop truist and quite frankly the employees at Def Jam dragged ass on her product trying to get projects they felt that was more “DEF JAM” on the label. This reverse bigotry was really unwarranted and left a bad stain on the DefJam’s brand.

Iggy also didn’t help by really pushing the fact that she belonged in hip hop when in reality she belonged in hip pop. Def Jam did a horrible job of getting her message to her buying audience 12–24 suburban white females and that sank her popularity. If Iggy was on Atlantic (I can’t believe I’m saying this…) She would have been a massive HipPop star. Wrong label that didn’t really try to sell her because of their preconceived notions about her and her music.
