GetAtMe The Children of Hiphop (is this what we thought it would be?)

GetAtMe The Children of Hiphop (is this what we thought it would be?) | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

Hip Hop is not just a communications culture, it also a definition of a culture.  Are these the children of hip hop? Is this what Grand Master Flash meant when he said “It’s like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder…?”  Did The Ghetto Boys mean this when they said “I think my minds playing tricks on me…?”  Were these the children Slick Rick was speaking of in his classic ‘A CHILDRENS STORY'?  Are these the kids (or hiphop’s grandchildren…?).
Hip Hop started out as party music and as others wanted to be invited to the party, they started redefining hiphop for their own use to define themselves in hiphop’s eyes.  The militants wanted it to be activist music.  The players wanted it to be players music.  The dj’s wanted it to be dj music and the lyricist wanted it to be about the bars.  HipHop as a parent did its best to nuture these children and then theses children had a child… Trap Music (and Trap music grew up hanging out with his cousin gang music, who you didn’t see that much in the hood because at time he was away at one of those facilities #FamilySecrets…).
The real of it is that music for all generations becomes defining moments for that generation in memories and moments and the music is the soundtrack.  Is this picture the defining photo of this hiphop generation?  Is this their portrait and is the music responsible for this or the labels (film at 11…).
One thing we know for sure is that one day someone will revisit this picture and they will either say “wow that’s how we looked?” or “Wow that’s how we looked…”  It’s going to be interesting to hear which one will be the statement when that time comes…
“There’s nothing wrong with the music business that a good song can’t cure…”

GetAtMe- ItsAHit This week Ms Hustle is ready to take on mainstream music... (man this girl bars are crazy...) | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

Ms Hustle has a plan and a question.  How in the world can certain performers out here outshine her when they have not an inch of her skill (she does have a point...)  Anyone who has seen any of Ms Hustle rap battles can tell you, she's viciously clever.  She take no prisoners (ooh weee...)  Can she take that same energy and put hits out.  Why would any New York label back some of these overpriced IG models vs going to get their own homegrown "Queen Of Harlem (who is a certified killer... ) Check out this story and more this week on GetAtMe

GetAtMe- 5 things Bhad Bhabie does right (and hiphop should litsen...) | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

A few years ago, on the Dr Phil show, America was introduced to 13-year-old young lady who uttered the statement that made her a meme star, “cash me outside...”  Those words started the beginning of this young lady’s journey to fame and financial security (mind you this young lady was only 13 years old...)  What Danielle Bregnoli has accomplished in the last few years is almost amazing.  Here a few things that Danielle did that hiphop could learn from her.

  • 1 Don’t listen to noone except your instincts (that’s if you want to achieve things in a timely fashion.)  Nothing slows the process up more than some industry professional trying to prove that they are smarter than the market, (they’re not...)
  • 2. Have a massive amount of content (and boy she has a lot...)  This young lady has a massive amount of content.  With over 16 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Bhad Bhabie is on her way to being a hip pop staple...
  • Good reviews or bad reviews, she doesn’t care. She just just keeps on putting music out and basically playing the numbers.  The amount of music she has now online has become a massive catalogue (massive...)
  • Align yourself with the up and comers in your industry.  To be young, her feature list is crazy.  From NBA YoungBoy, to Kodak Black to Tory Lanez,  this young lady made sure she was at “the cool kids table.  She really knows how to make friends and moves...
  • Publicly, she committed to being “The nightmare”.  No matter what she does online, she does it big and she realized that she has way more value being the villain and owning it.  Every opportunity that she has to drive click and views, she takes it.  Be it a fight, a beef or attacking a Disney kid (or Disney Thot as she put it), she goes for the throat.  Bhad Bhabie is all WWE.

The acronym for her name BHAD (being hated and doubted...) means something to her.  Its her mantra.  Bhad Bhabie is on a mission.  She has combined being part juvenile delinquent, part IG model and all businessperson to lay a path for her financial success.  And that’s what’s up.

Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the music business that good music can’t cure...”

GetAtMe Why is America as citizens pay law enforcement officers to be serial killers...? (this has gotta stop...) | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

You know the last couple of months have been just loaded with tragedies (I'm really tired of seeing law enforcement officers overstepping their boundaries in videos online on a daily basis.  Usually based on simply an act of cowardice...)  When did America become cool with our tax paid lawmen being such cowards and having no remorse for killing some of America’s citizen while the people who pay them their salaries are the victims (yes there are poor people that pay sales taxes that in some way contribute to the public coffers that pay our police.)

All Americans should be horrified by these developments (not just blacks...) and from what I’ve seen from the protest, that most mature and non culturally biased Americans feel like these situations are totally unacceptable and horrific.  What I don’t see is that these same citizen are really not aware that these acts of cowardice within our law enforcement community is a cancer that hurt our economic well being here in America (you gotta realize that during the protest the police made an asshole of overtime cash and it was almost like we rewarded the officer for their colleagues bad behavior (or just plain cowardly behavior.)

This issue should be a gut check for American as a culture.  Do we want cowardly, untrained, unaccountable law enforcement personnel (I know I don’t want that situation...) or do we want true servant of the community that deserve our investments.  Its up to you America

GetAtMe- OnTheBeat DaBaby FIND MY WAY is this week's top trending cut.. #ItsAHit

GetAtMe- OnTheBeat DaBaby FIND MY WAY is this week's top trending cut.. #ItsAHit | GetAtMe | Scoop.it

Ok here’s this weeks GetAtMe OnTheBeat

  • DaBaby FIND MY WAY leads the pack in buzz (due to the great video out...) but sorta got ran over by the singles ROCKSTAR & NASTY because both songs were loaded with features (why do such a great video on FIND MY WAY and then cannibilize the song with feature loaded cuts... #smh oh well )
  • Da Baby ROCKSTAR ft Roddy Ricch exploded up the itune charts to #11 with over 640 downloads out the box..
  • Kelly Rowland COFFEE created a buzz (video driven...) and it came in 3rd.  It hopped in at #40 on iTunes with over 260 downloads a day (they been waiting on her... #TrueFansBuy
  • Boosie RIGHT DEA ft Dee Rogers is a straight stripclub banger... (this one’s all streets and mixtapes...)
  • 21 Savage SECRETS ft Summer Walker is a smash (sampling the Xscape classic MY LITTLE SECRET... this is that cut) It will be a smash if it get some sales (currently at #346 on itunes.).
  • My wildcard is another DaBaby cut NASTY ft Ashanti & MeganTheeStallion (it make way more sense just to let the artist feature as opposed to paying a crazy licensing fee.  The feature fee and getting reestablished as an artist carries a lot of weight...

That’s this weeks ON THE BEAT remember “there’s nothing wrong with the music business that good music can't cure...”
