Now ya’ll know I’m not really trying to do back to back reviews of a song, but this remix hit today and it had to be done.  Now putting Chris Brown and Trey Songz on this song is a gimme.  I liked the remix ( many were tripping about Trinadad’s verse on the first mix but I’mma tell you.  Trinindad’s verse was in pocket.  For a remix to work with star performers, the artist can’t try to be bigger than the song and Trinindad James pulled that off on the first one.  Man is it me or does August Alsina really sound just like R Kelly?  #ImJustSayin.  Here’s the Stats;

LYRICS- 4($$$$) This version is a little raunchier.  They go way more in with the sexual content on this version…..

BUZZ- 4($$$$) come on Trey Songz and Chris Brown on a song that’s already a hit, that’s a 4 by itself……

TOTAL- 27pts out of 30pts( grade A) it stayed and A but picked up a point on the remix.  This one is on the add list.

August Alsina “I Luv This Shit” Ft Trinadad James

Woo this one is smooth.  This is one of the first time that a trap beat and a R&B groove works well (I love them horns in the back).  This one crept on everyone and radio fell in love with it.  Trinadad James found the right cut to get on.  This hook is working so hard #LOL.  This beat is almost like a Weekend or Drake beat given a trap feel and it works.  Here’s the stats

THE TRACK- 5($$$$$)  this track is so sultry and sexy, real talk…..

THE PERFOMANCE- 5($$$$$) this performance is perfect for this track.  This thing is like R Kelly and the Isley’s Brothers meets todays streets…

MUSCLE- 4($$$$) man come on, Trinadad delivered the streets for real…. This guys simplicstic pace is crazy..

JUICE- 4($$$$) radio is already all over this one (#4 on the BDS Charts with 3746 spins)…….

LYRICS- 4($$$$) the hook say it all and Trinadad’s bars (#WhatHe’sGonnaDo… #LOL) caps it…….

BUZZ- 4($$$$) man this crept so smoothly, this song was the creeper of the year.  It was a hit before anyone knew what it was….

TOTAL- 26pts out of 30 pts( Grade A)  The grade says it all.  This ones a smoker.

August Alsina “I Luv This Shit”

It took almost 7 months for this cut to climb its way to the top but guess what, it’s probably a couple of weeks from being a number 1 record on the BDS urban chart (currently sitting at #4).  Being real Trinindad James delivered this in the streets (being fair). Now it’s time for all this airplay to turn into some online sales. Here’s the QuikViewStats:

THE STREETS- 4($$$$) like I said Trinidad James delivered this in the streets for this cat.  Real talk……

MIXTAPES- 3($$$) this cut was neutral on the mixtapes scene (Trinidad James got them in that club).  The remix with Chris Brown & Trey Songz is supposed to get this song more star power, we’ll see

CLUBS- 5($$$$$)  Clubs were on this off the top and delivered  it (especially the stripclubs. The dancers were all over this song)…

RADIO- 5($$$$$) radio banged this one out.  So yes Virginia “there is a Santa Claus and a good song can climb to the top in radio”.

BUZZ- 5.3($$$$$.3) this song climbed so quietly it’s almost was a secret (they just know this hook “ILuvThisShit”). Radio loves this song……

TOTAL- 22.3pts out of 25pts (grade A) This song can go nowhere but up.  It has a strong buzz so now it’s gotta show up on the sales chart (the real test).  This definitely is a song that would have done better as a single in a traditional retail setting.  This would have sold all day in the malls.
