One of the largest specimens of fossil rock art in the world has been located in the Amazon rainforest. Acclaimed the Sistine Chapel of the Ancients, archaeologists have discovered tens of thousands of animal and human drawings on cliffs extending almost 13 kilometers in the Colombian Amazon. The antiquity of some of these works dates back to 12,500 years, as shown by the portrayal of the extinct animals of the Ice Age (such as mastodons, and giants sloths).
