March 7 – Chinese-owned Wolverhampton Wanderers, currently experiencing an upturn in on-field fortunes under Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui, have posted a £46.1 million pre-tax loss for the year to end-May 2022.
This was generated on turnover down nearly £30 million from the prior season at £165.7 million. While gate receipts bounced back to over £13 million as fans returned to Molyneux, this was more than cancelled out by reductions in broadcasting rights and the club’s league distribution.

March 6 – Liverpool’s staff costs surged through the £300-million mark last season, as the Merseysiders put the finishing touches to the squad that is running away with this year’s Premier League title.
These costs jumped 17.6% from £263.6 million to £309.9 million, putting them in the same ballpark as the Manchester giants. City reported aggregate payroll costs of £315.3 million, while United’s employee benefit expenses for 2018-19 reached £332.3 million.…

9 August – The Premier League’s summer transfer window closed on Thursday evening (August 8) with clubs narrowly failing to break the £1.43 billion spending record set in summer 2017.
According to figures supplied by Deloitte, the professional services firm, English top-tier clubs had spent a total of £1.41 billion by the time the latest window closed. This is the second-highest aggregate since introduction of the transfer window system in 2003. Read more …

February 14 – Premier League Brentford, currently in their third season in the top flight, have announced a record turnover of £166.5 million for the 2022/23 financial year, the club’s second in the Premier League.
The turnover is a £25.1 million increase on £140.9 million figure for 2021/22. But while the revenue has increased the profit before tax has decreased from £29.9 million to £9.2 million.
The reduction in profit is attributed to a £20 million increase in wages.
