We haven't heard much Flex news lately but as of this month Apache took Flex out of incubation and made it a top-level project! Apache Flex now has also reached version 4.9 and contains the following changes:

Wasn't there suppose to be a new designed Apache Flex site?
not even a blog post on the incubator site to elaborate? after all this time waiting, 4.8 is released quietly as a soft-launch? what's going on?

Hi, Well it’s been a while and the dust was a bit thick on the blog, I’m going to start writing again. Since I have put so much time into a certain project, I would like to demystify if for all, so there is no misinformation here.

As you may recall, Flex was donated to the Apache Software Foundation at the end of 2011. According to Apache rules, we had to spend some time in “incubation” to ensure that an active community could carry Flex forward independent from Adobe, and learn the “Apache way” of making release, building community and resolving conflict.

Flex is now an Apache project in incubation (as PhoneGap under the name ‘Cordova’). The community is hyper-active and it’s not a surprise. If you look at what the community has achieved around Flex since its creation, you’ll directly understand why Apache Flex will be successful.
