It's not surprising that Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Grantholm and her team had some challenges with EV chargers on their road trip to promote green energy. I hope the lessons learned on this 4-day trip spurs some new investment in the infrastructure and technology required for all Americans to travel the highways and byways without worry of where to charge or how long the wait might be. In a related article from NPR, Camila Domonoske identified the key concern for consumers, "worries about public chargers are the No. 1 reason why would-be EV buyers are reluctant to make the switch, even outranking concerns about high prices. And driver satisfaction with public chargers is getting worse, not better." In the meantime, if the Department of Energy would like to do more road trips, give me a call. I'd love to blaze the EV trail with the DOE in a Mach-E, Lyriq, BMW, Rivian, or any of the new EVs that are available. Ready to serve!
