French government's TVA increase on lift passes | Club euro alpin: Economie tourisme montagne sports et loisirs | Scoop.it

Lift passes in France have always been good value for money when considered in relation to the vast acreage of slopes available. However, as of January 1, the French Government has increased the TVA (their version of VAT) on 'services' from 5.5% to 7%. Essential foodstuffs will remain at 5.5%. Other goods, including food in restaurants and hotels, and public transport will be liable at the new rate. Consequently, TVA on lift passes has also increased from 5.5% to 7%.
