"When kids use ‘old school’ materials like pencils, paper, and scissors, do I tell them exactly which tool to use? Choose the 6 inch pencil for this assignment, and use the red handled scissors to cut on this line? Nope. It’d get downright exhausting to do that. When it comes to tech tools, why don’t I allow them the same freedom? Should everyone need to make a 6 slide PowerPoint show with the same transitions, or a 5 dotted line graph in Excel with 12 pt font?"
