5 Ways to Collect Digital Exit Tickets

5 Ways to Collect Digital Exit Tickets | Eclectic Technology | Scoop.it

"One of the strategies that I use when creating lesson plans is to reflect on the previous lesson. Part of that reflection includes feedback from students. This can be done by simply asking students to raise their hands in response to a "did you get it?" type of question, but I like to have better record of responses than just a hand count. Here are some tools that can be used for collecting exit information from students."

Beth Dichter's insight:

Richard Byrne shares five tools that he uses with students. They are:

* Google Forms

* Padlet

* Socrative

* Poll Everywhere

* Plickers - For the classroom that isn't 1:1

Each tool is discussed and if you search for the tool on his website you will find information about how to use it.

You may find that your students will be more engaged with exit slips if they use technology to respond. In addition, some of these tools provide unique ways to see the response, such as Poll Everywhere which will display feedback as word clouds.

The 5 W's of Exit Tickets

The 5 W's of Exit Tickets | Eclectic Technology | Scoop.it

"While in New Orleans at the Reading, Writing, Math and More Conference, I had a lot of questions about my Exit Tickets.  So I figured - Hey?  Why not do a blog post!   So Ta-Da!!  Here goes nothing! The 5 W's of Exit Tickets. "

Beth Dichter's insight:

Do you use exit tickets in your class? Are you interested in learning more about reasons why you might consider exit tickets as a tool for teachers and students? This post looks at the 5 W's of exit tickets:

* What

* Who

* Where

* When

* Why

Each of these areas are discussed in detail and many suggestions are provided.

For example, in the What section the author states "Exit tickets are a quick and easy way to gather immediate data at the end of a lesson.  They can be formal (something you found online, paid for, printed, etc.) or they can be very on the spot and informal."

There are also some visuals in the post that will provide you some ideas on how you might organize exit slips (or have the students help you organize them). If you are new to exit slips, this post provides great information and insight into the reasons to make use of them; and if you already use them you may learn some new information.
