Learning the difference between various words that describe things figuratively is often difficult. Here is a video that may help your students understand the following terms:
* Personification
* Alliteration
* Assonance
* Hyperbole
* Onomatopoeia
* Metaphor
* Simile
Through repetition, images, the use of the words in context, and a melody that one can sing along too this video may find a place in your classroom. Although designed by a Grade 7 teacher you may find it useful in grades above and below Grade 7. Kudos to the teacher who posted this, Revae Mendoza!
