There are hundreds of things that people would say about what Twitter should do to be better or a platform that we like more, etc. But at their core issue is this user base growth. It connects to their current and future revenue and therefore if it is left unchecked could have dire consequences. Until the root of this issue is uncovered and addressed, the core problem with user base growth and adoption will never be corrected.

The REAL Reasons You Need Twitter For Business

The REAL Reasons You Need Twitter For Business | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

I didn’t plan to write a blog about why Twitter for business is so important because as a social media professional, its pretty obvious.

But as I was gathering research for another Twitter marketing subject to write about, I was blown away at how many brands are either stepping back from executing a consistent Twitter strategy or aren’t participating at all.

The media may rant and rave about how Twitter is fading because it doesn’t have a CEO or because it’s not making money, but none of those things make it any less of a social network. Its still at the top, and I predict it will only continue to grow....

(From the article): Drive trafficAnother major reason for investing in Twitter is that is can drive MAJOR traffic to your website.Twitter is typically the #1 social traffic source for our clients, and it doesn’t take an enormous amount of effort.Yes, you must consistently create new native content to share on Twitter, and yes, you must be sure to promote yourself clearly, but Twitter will streamline that traffic without issue. Its not like Facebook who continues to become more and more possessive about keeping its users ON Facebook. Twitter isn’t jealous and doesn’t overwhelm us with ads – it allows businesses to easily push followers through to a website. And with its recent 2015 updates of video and photos, its even easier to drive traffic wherever you want it to go.

Ultimate Social Media Empire: Use Twitter To Search Every Tweet Ever Made

Ultimate Social Media Empire: Use Twitter To Search Every Tweet Ever Made | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

...At the moment, the updated search bar is pretty basic. Twitter plan to continue upgrading as time goes on, and more and more advanced features will become available over time. Still, you're able to set a few parameters, such as the dates you search between and whose posts you're combing through. In other words, you can choose to search a certain person’s tweets between December and January of last year, and you can choose to only search for tweets which contain the hashtag #christmas.

This allows you to track people's changing opinions over time. For those who understand coding and binary and scary words, Twitter have explained their new search bar in impossible amounts of detail over at their official blog post. If you speak fluent binary, check it out. If you don't, all you need to take away from this article is that Twitter is now even more powerful than it was before.

Twitter Drops Huge Hint of E-Commerce Plans

Twitter Drops Huge Hint of E-Commerce Plans | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

The company is testing a dormant menu option that appears to hint that commerce services will be coming soon.

... This is the latest in a stream of hints that Twitter is preparing a foray into commerce. Back in June,Re/Code spotted a “buy now” button that began appearing in tweets with links to retail siteFancy. The same publication previously got its hands on documents that appeared to show commerce plans, while Twitter has been rumored to be working on a deal with payments provider Stripe for some time.

At this point it isn’t entirely clear what Twitter has planned, but the “payment and shipping” option – which appears to be where users would manage their payment methods and enter their delivery address – clearly ties in with other clues....

Twitter Tips for Beginners: Everything I Wish I Knew When I Started

Twitter Tips for Beginners: Everything I Wish I Knew When I Started | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it

Before I joined Buffer, I barely had a Twitter account.

It existed by its lonesome for a few years as a placeholder for the day when my work allowed me to tweet freely. That day came when I had the privilege to join up with the Buffer team, and I dove right in, applying all the Twitter knowledge I had stowed away. And still, even with a running start, I had so much to learn.

Knowledge seldom takes the place of experience. So while I muddled through my first few weeks on Twitter—experimenting and fiddling—I noticed the many things I could have only learned by doing. Here are the big ones. Call them Twitter tips for beginners.

Maybe you can relate to some?...

How to Respond to People on Twitter: A Simple Guide for Businesses [Infographic]

How to Respond to People on Twitter: A Simple Guide for Businesses [Infographic] | e-commerce & social media | Scoop.it
Thanks to Twitter, businesses are closer to consumers than ever before. Tweets haven't replaced phone calls and handwritten letters, but they've become a popular way for consumers to vocalize their questions, praise, or complaints -- all in plain view of anyone who can find the conversation online.

But customers don't just expect you to read their tweets about you -- they also expect you to reply. According to charts published on Search Engine Watch, 70% of surveyed Twitter users expect a response from brands they reach out to on Twitter. Of those users, 53% want that response in under an hour.

It's important to have a solid strategy for responding to tweets so you can keep your customers happy and drive engagement on Twitter. Should you include a link in your response? How much punctuation (?, !) should you use? Are emoticons off the table?

To help inform your Twitter response strategy, LeadSift gathered data on answers to these questions and more, and culminated them into the visual below. Consider this data in the context of your own brand voice and what you know about your buyers' behavior to develop an action plan when responses come rolling in. And hurry -- your customers are waiting.

Twitter is easily in my top three favorite social networks because it doesn’t restrict who you can and can’t connect with (unless they have a private profile) and you get rewarded for your hard work.
