You have seen QR codes in ads, but do they make sense for academics? This post discusses why, when and how you can use QR codes in research and teaching.

QR codes are a great way of giving additional information about either yourself or your research and teaching portfolio. For example, I display QR codes on conference posters, on presentation slides, and on class handouts to point my audience to additional information. You can also display a QR code outside your office’s door to give people an alternative way to reach you when you aren’t there.

Using QR Code in your presentations is a good way to engage your audience by providing access to your online resources in the PPT slides.

You can add QR Code to your slides to let the audience download resources from the net. You can also put the QR code on the last slide to give additional information about yourself or your company.

You can convert your documents and presentation slides into a QR code and thus people can download them quickly on the phone by simply scanning.
