Wow, when you cut through all of the bitterness, the author does have a good point buried in there. However, he REALLY misses the mark for most of it. Somewhere along the way he was wronged by someone and his bitterness in this post is overwhelming. Media studies is not a better term than digital literacy. It shows how much he just doesn't get it, which is surprising given his background. Media studies sounds like a college professor looking for a class to teach. Digital literacy comprises skills that should be integrated into every area of study. 21st century skills is not just a marketing term (although sadly both terms are to often used that way). Sure, there are many educators that go too far, but that happens outside of the digital world as well. The author is correct in that those who focus on the digital literacy tools and not digital literacy skills are also missing the mark.
