War Of The Words: The Social Media Plague - JThomas/AltaCali

War Of The Words: The Social Media Plague - JThomas/AltaCali | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

“The first casualty when war comes is truth.”

  U.S. Senator Hiram Johnson, 1917

“News” travels fast; Facts travel slow…very slow, especially when 52% of people in the United States have “basic” literacy skills. “Most of them can sign forms, compare ticket prices for two events and look up shows in a TV guide. Most cannot find places on a map, calculate the cost of office supplies from a catalog and compare viewpoints in two editorials.” Four percent are nonilliterate. That’s 14M people, people.

Just to put the rat on the table (thanks Guru), this pandemic “exercise”has nothing to do with public health, and everything to do with the ability of local, regional, and federal governments to become dictatorships with a clic on a keypad. The message was clear and unambiguous: you will obey without questioning, and like it; otherwise there’s fines, imprisonment, or death. The response from the public? “Yes, Massa…”

There has not been a national freak out like the current C19 hysteria since 1939, when Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre troupe broadcast a program on CBS radio called “War Of The Worlds.” Although there was a disclaimer at the beginning of the program, many people missed it. Revisionist history has tried to downplay the mass panic that ensued, but the fact is millions of people from coast to coast in the United States actually believed Martians had invaded Earth.

There was no television, and “real” news traveled slow. Still does. Corona virus? Well, microbes were the heroes in H.G. Wells famous book. When the Martians emerged from their spaceships, they were defeated by one of humanity’s oldest friends (and foes); microbes. The aliens started dropping dead, and the invasion was over. Ironic, eh wot?

The main problem is “smartphones.” People think because they spend six or 10 hours a day staring at a cellphone that they actually know something. But what are they staring at (in portrait mode, no less)? The latest research on C19? The origins of inequality in the United States? The differences and similarities between Christianity and Muslim fundamentalism? The behavior of hydrogen molecules in a vacuum?

No, 99% of the time (like most statistics, this one was made up on the spot) it will be so some lame-ass mainstream So-So networking site, a YouTube pop music video, or a a video game. Hey, whatever happened to “Pong?”

Even though I am 147 years old. I’m not some kind of Luddite, I’ve been at this technology thing since vacuum tubes. I invented the internet. OK, I participated in a project by AT&T called “videotext” in San Francisco in 1988. It was going to connect your touchtone telephone keypad to your television screen to send and receive information.

My first “computer” was made by Timex, once the largest watch maker in the country. I watched the best advertisement of all time live; Apples “1984.” I have remained In Touch With The Modern World; even though I only got my first “smart” phone in 2019 (iPhone 5C for $40). Days can go by and I never have occasion to touch it. But I regress…

I’m not sure which concerns me more: the ease with which The Overlords pulled off the perfect heist of the “West’s” resources, or the gullibility of an allegedly educated population. “ Go inside and sit still and be quiet! No questions!” “Yes, teacher.”  It is now painfully obvious that our schools are actually a system of indoctrination. What we are taught is to stop “running around,” shut up, and obey authority. Five days a week, for at least 12 years. Well, it worked.

The same study discovered that 34% of all U.S. citizens have “intermediate” literacy skills. That means they can read and write at an intermediate, or sixth to eigth grade level. Most can identify the link leading to the organization’s phone number from a website with several links, including “contact us” and “FAQ.” But most cannot click to the second page of search results from a library website to identify the author of a book called Ecomyth.

Long story short, 88% of U.S. denizens reading comprehension skills range from illiterate to eight-grade proficiency. Shameful, depressing, and it explains a lot about why what’s going on is happening.  It explains why most of my 5.2K “followers” (hate that word, what’s wrong with “neighbors?”) are from countries other than the United States.

So, join the Global Information Elite. Break your addiction to Fake News. That would be all mainstream media, and includes your favorite entertainment, social networking, and miseducation systems. Want to know what’s really going on? Do Your Own Damn Research!

As for this C19 false flag operation, no conspiracy theory necessary. “Just the facts, M’am.” - Jack Webb, Dragnet. Look it up, Kiddies. Lets start with everybody’s favorite multi-billionaire, Bill Gates: Is the Global Pandemic a Product of the Elite’s Malthusian Agenda and U.S. Biowarfare?

Has this pandemic caused more deaths worldwide than the same time last year (spoiler alert; no.)? Official Figures: COVID-19 Yet to Impact Europe’s Overall Mortality

I expect you slackers to start your day by checking @ThePlanetaryArchives/BlackHorseMedia - San Francisco each morning with your coffee. Or watch one of my gorgeous hi-def videos on your smart TV. The internet was originally designed to share military secrets privately. But it can be hacked to share public information, publicly. That is, until it’s censored by the likes of Facebook and YouTube. These are my only social networks besides Yelp!, so feel free to share!

Are ScreenLock and FaceDown Mental Illnesses? - J. Thomas/BlackHorseMedia

Are ScreenLock and FaceDown Mental Illnesses? - J. Thomas/BlackHorseMedia | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it

The most serious epidemic humankind has ever faced has swept the planet and has already affected billions of people; from the poorest illiterate rural villager to the people who have money and education. It affects young and old, black and white, Boyz and Girlz. It takes many different forms, but the result is the same; screenlock.

The Japanese have another name for it: ‘Facedown.’ Staring at that tiny screen for most of your waking hours. Oh sure, you watch Game of Thrones on your 72” 8K smartTV. But from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep, you are engaged with and by that tiny little screen. That, amigos, is a form of mental illness.

It would be different if watching that screen was informing you of current events, or teaching you the Electric Sun theory, or even telling you the names of the plants and animals you see every day, but know nothing about.

Au contraire, mon ami. Numero uno, it’s impossible to actually see anything on that tiny little screen unless it is used in landscape mode, which nobody does. It blows peoples minds when I inform them that the phone was originally intended to be used this way.

The reason everyone uses portrait mode is so they can type with one thumb. Spoiler Alert: anything that can be typed with one thumb is not important. Indeed, most of the cellular data being sold for extortionate fees by the telecoms is used for frivolous purposes, social networking being the most abused.

I’ve observed toddlers, teenagers, and alleged adults so involved in their games they wouldn’t even make eye contact, let alone interact. Some people are so addled they can’t look away for 10 seconds straight. The problem is they don’t know how to interact because they never have to. I totally understand the need to disengage from the real world. I too have spent countless hours on mindless “entertainment.”

But some of that entertainment were things that might be considered art and literature. I have read hundreds of books, including the Holy Bible cover-to-cover. Twice. Great stuff; some of it even accurate. The Bhagdad Gita is a fun read, as is the I-Ching. Siddartha is still cool. The Master and Margarita and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin are lessons in poetry as narrative.

But nobody reads anything longer than a tweet on their tiny little screens. Nobody actually reads entire articles on their phone. Nobody scrolls below the ‘fold,’ or visits multiple pages on a website. Nobody spends more than a few seconds on any one app, unless it’s a game or their significant other. Nobody reads anymore; and that’s why the Elites continue to literally  get away with murder.

Nobody does multiple searches or anything like serious research on their phones; and yet many people forgo getting computers because all they do is WhatsUp and MyFace. Oh, and actually watch videos and movies in portrait mode. Saints preserve us…..

Fortunately screen-lock or Facedown aren’t necessarily fatal, unless you die taking a selfie with a speeding train, from a vertigo-inducing height, or with a dangerous animal. Oh wait, many people have died doing exactly those things. Oh well, natural selection is a cruel master.

Since screenlock is more of a learned behavior than an organic disorder, de-programming is possible. I’ve found that immersing oneself in Nature to be the best way to overcome this addiction. The world is out there; not in there. And if you’re watching mainstream media, including the most popular so-so networking sites, you’re being given the mushroom treatment. That is, you’re being kept in the dark and fed shit.

What, you think the truth is freely available to the Talking Heads who read teleprompters? That the Powers That Be want an informed and/or enlightened electorate? Everything you see in the MSM is lies, damned lies, disinformation, half-truths, innuendo, gossip, propaganda, talking points, official statements, here-say, trash news, and did I mention damned lies? If you want the truth, you won’t find it in a tweet on your phone.

Addictive De-Vices: How We Can Unplug from this 21st Century Epidemic | Digital Collaboration and the 21st C. | Scoop.it
We spend our days looking at them, talking to them, and touching them. They increasingly consume our time, attention and money. We are addicted to our digital devices -- or, more precisely, the digital experiences they give us. A study analyzed the growing problem with digital addiction and how marketers as well as app developers contribute to this 21st-century phenomenon.
