Based on the letter that Jeff Bezos sent to shareholders about the Amazon’s corporate culture, we described this corporate culture using to The Culture Map we developed with Alex and Dave Gray (see article on the HBR post here)

Mickael Ruau's insight:

The outcomes presents the growth as the main goal and some achievements according this objective. The behaviours corresponds to positive actions people performed insideAmazon, such as willingness to fail, eagerness to invent, and patience to think long term. These visible behaviors are driven by enabling factors such as high judgement individuals or teams, risk-acceptance mentality, and reversible decision, if failure is detected.

The Culture Map is an excellent book by Erin Meyer. As my current team evolves in an international context, I had the idea to use the culture map as an icebreaker to start one of our quarterly meetings.

The team is composed of people from France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and The Netherlands. The team has to interact daily with a lot of people from the US, and nearly all countries in the EMEA area.

We used a Miro board and one of the culture map provided in Erin’s book (reproduced below).
