Here is how my "Selling Everything" sale will work and a few of the first items we can't ship (furniture). My house and the rest of "everything I own" should go up in the next few days.

This post explains WHY I'm "selling out" and how you can help by buying STUFF and VOLUNTEERING. Will be loading more STUFF up over the next few days, so please tell your friends and wish us luck.

Together we cure cancer in our lifetime.

All proceeds benefit my 501c3 nonprofit Story of Cancer Foundation and help with development costs for Cure Cancer Starter (http://www.curecancerstarter.org) the first crowdfunding platform developed by a cancer survivor (me:) and dedicated to cancer research.

I am not ALONE in this journey.

My amazing employer, Raleigh software and web devleopers Atlantic BT, are creating Cure Cancer Starter and matching my investment.

I'm paying for development with my salaray and cash is getting TIGHT so time to sell everything, time to sell out to help cure cancer :).

The CoSoMo Manifesto - Atlantic BT | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
Our Connected, Social & Mobile revolution moves sand under our Internet marketing feet twenty years+ after Cluetrain's Manifesto, time for a new manifesto.
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Had fun writing an update to one of my favorite books - The Cluetrain Manifesto. Here are highlights from the CoSoMo Manifesto:

* We (your customers) are POWERFUL beyond your wildest dream.
* Our (your customers') everyday needs are more than MET.
* Our (your customers') aspirational desires will never be satisfied.
* Greatness is the cost of the poker game you are playing.
* We can't tell You how to be GREAT, but sure know it when we see, feel or buy greatness.
* Our TIME is our most valuable resource, so don't waste it.
* We may know you better ONLINE than you know yourself, so be authentic and real.
* Together we are more powerful than either of us alone.

What about you? Have ideas we should add to the CoSoMo Manifesto? Share in comments and we will curate in. Marty

Why Your Klout Score Matters - ScentTrail Marketing

Why Your Klout Score Matters - ScentTrail Marketing | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

Atlantic BT Klout Score Use Case
This piece provides a Klout score use case. It also continues an important conversation about The Idea of the Commons and The Share. It is RARE that metrics outlined come in as well as these.

I made a promise about rising tides lifting all boats in The Commons (mine and my employer Atlantic BT's) and boy did that promise come true.

Atlantic BT Klout +272%
@ScentTrail (my) Klout +62%

Don't be fooled by people with HIGH Klout scores telling you it doesn't matter or isn't helpful. Your Klout score does matter and is helpful as this use case proves.

Fans Create Cash [+ Marty Note on CQS Innovation]

Fans Create Cash [+ Marty Note on CQS Innovation] | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
Last month Jackie wrote a post on her blog with a pretty significant business nugget that I think a lot of people missed: “Dell has been using the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to measure customer...
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Great article and I would add our experience at Atlantic BT. I'm Atlantic BT's Marketing Director and we've done an interesting thing with NPS (Net Promoter Score).

Our founder, Jon Jordan a pretty brilliant guy, saw a drift happening in longer bigger projects. Some of the complex mobile and web development we do could take months. During that time the original vision could begin to drift.

Several years ago he stopped the long project drift with two ideas:

* Agile Project Development.

* Continuous Quality Score (CQS).

CQS is a white label of Net Promoter Score. Our weekly survey asks a single question on a 10 point scale, "Would you recommend Atlantic BT?". We handle CQS the same as NPS. If a low score comes in a fire brigade puts out the fire.

Continuous Quality Score helps save projects and relationships because Fans do create cash and our biggest fans always come from people we've worked with.

Social Media Marketing - The Most Valuable ROI

Social Media Marketing - The Most Valuable ROI | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

Hunting social media marketing ROI can make it easy to ignore the most important point - Your company, brand and product must have a social media marketing strategy.

Marty Note
The soial ROI controversy is in high gear thanks to a Forrester report (see my Don't Follow GoofyStupid and the Clueless post from yesterday: http://www.scoop.it/t/curation-revolution/p/3161431620/don-t-follow-goofystupid-or-truly-clueless-on-social-media-roi-marty-note ). I thought it would be a good idea to go over some social media marketing basics.

First, I am NOT a mystic or philosopher. I was trained in e-commerce by direct marketers. I believe in Internet marketing's ROI. Increasingly I understand that ROI is tied to who we are, what we project and how well our talk matches our walk.

Caveat stated, here are some thoughts on what Social Media Marketing IS:

* Aspirational - speaks to who we ARE and Want To Be.
* Connection - speaks to our desire to learn from each other.
* Exploration - speaks to the inner explorer in all of us.
* Saves World - creates community and action.
* Elicits Joy - helps share discoveries, joy, victories and defeats.

If these attributes sound like Jim Stengel's fundamental human characteristics brands need to align to it is on purpose (read GROW by Stengel). In the post Social Media Marketing The Most Valuable ROI I asked if you could afford NOT to create a social presence. I don't think avoiding things is as powerful as wanting something. Let's recast the question and ask if it is important your brand connect, explore, impact, have aspirations and share joy?

Yes right?

The Courage To Be Imperfect: Brené Brown and the Connection Economy [TED video]

The Courage To Be Imperfect: Brené Brown and the Connection Economy [TED video] | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
Brene Brown explains becoming a great Internet marketer means giving up the tyranny of perfection and embracing an ever escalating social vulnerability.
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Why does our increasingly social economy make some companies uncomfortable? It isn't easy to embrace an ever-increasing amount of vulnerability; to not play or cling to the tyranny of perfection are both doomed strategies already extinct.

This piece explores how companies can dare to be great in a socially connected time.

Atlantic BT Welcomes Zuckerberg, Brin, Milner To Cure Cancer Challenge | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
Fastcompany reported Silicon Valley luminaries created a $3M Breakthrough Prize. Atlantic BT welcomes valley entrepreneurs to the cure cancer challenge.

A passel of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs have created a Breakthrough Prize In Life Sciences. This is cool as it adds momentum to our Cure Cancer Starter project to crowdfund cancer research.

Watch Cure Cancer Starter Video. (http://www.curecancerstarter.org)

In fact, it feels like there is a larger movement happening. We know we live in technologically rich times. We also know the so called "War on Cancer" is all but over and we lost.

There is good news. The good news is technology is helping cancer patients live longer. As we inch toward a cure for cancer one thing is clear - technology will lead the way.

We welcome such creative and powerful valley luminaries to the #TechCuresCancer movement.

Welcome to the strange serendipity and mystery wrapped in enigma that is Internet marketing my legal brothers and sisters.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

After a lifetime of creating and curating 2013 needs to be a year of giving stuff away (lol). To that end I'm expanding the free Internet marketing consulting hours I started in 2012. The link includes the details and a snippet from someone who stopped by one Saturday.

I've also decided to donate every dollar I make in 2013 into a trust to help cure cancer. The Story of Cancer Trust's mission is to find ways to use technology to help cure cancer and create a supportive community for cancer patients, their friends and families. I have a dog in this hunt and so am MOTIVATED :).

As always, appreciate the contributions of my Scoop.it friends and collaborators. You guys ROCK. Thanks.
