This is an increasingly common question: how much do we virtualize the nature-going experience? To be sure games wherein you engage with a model of the real world without cars or guns is helpful. But many of those who argue for strong environmental protection worry that as online nature experiences grow, there will be less vision and therefore reduced advocacy for real nature.

Ventura County Closures:

• City of Ventura: Parks, beach and pier closed. 
• Oxnard: Parks and beaches, including Ormond and Mandalay, temporarily closed this weekend. 
• Port Hueneme: Hueneme Beach, the pier and beach parking lots are closed. 
• County of Ventura: Parks and campgrounds, as well as it beachside RV parking areas, are closed. County trails are open. 
• Channel Islands Harbor: Parks and parking lots are closed; a temporary closure for beaches, including Hollywood, Silver Strand and Kiddie, over the weekend. 
• Ventura Harbor beaches, the public launch ramp and beach parking lots are closed. Parking along Spinnaker Drive also was expected to be prohibited. 
• California State Parks: All beaches and trailheads closed in Ventura County. The list includes Emma Wood, San Buenaventura State Beach, Mandalay, Mugu Beach, Chumash Trail, La Jolla Canyon, Sycamore Canyon, Sycamore Cove, County Line. McGrath was previously closed. 
• Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area: Trails closed on weekends in Ventura County. 
• Conejo Open Space Conservation District: Trails closed. 
• Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority: Trails closed.
