A beautiful animated map of global wind conditions.

Building off of the idea of a wind map of the United States by Martin Wattenberg and Fernanda Viegas, Cameron Beccario made one for Earth, based on data from the Global Forecast System. This is a great tool for introducing global near-surface wind (and to a certain extent surface water phenomenon such as waves/wave height). Beautiful illustration!
