Europe’s July heatwaves were made 950 times more likely because of human caused climate change, scientists have found.

Coldiretti estimates that wildfires cost the Italian agriculture sector at least €1 billion in damage. Olive growers blame climate change for longer, hotter and drier summers. Lower temperatures coupled with much-needed rainfall last week have finally reduced the number of wildfires in Italy after a hot and dry summer saw numerous blazes engulf the country.

The climate-fuelled wildfires unleashed the same CO2 emissions last month as over 222,000 cars driven in a year.

There are currently at least 12wildfires throughout Albania, significantly less than this time last year, although, with temperatures set to rise over the weekend, more could be expected.
