A Strategist’s Guide to Artificial Intelligence

A Strategist’s Guide to Artificial Intelligence | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
As you contemplate the introduction of artificial intelligence, articulate what mix of the three approaches works best for you.

• Are you primarily interested in upgrading your existing processes, reducing costs, and improving productivity? If so, then start with assisted intelligence, probably with a small group of services from a cloud-based provider.

• Do you seek to build your business around something new — responsive and self-driven products, or services and experiences that incorporate AI? Then pursue an augmented intelligence approach, probably with more complex AI applications resident on the cloud.

• Are you developing a genuinely new technology? Most companies will be better off primarily using someone else’s AI platforms, but if you can justify building your own, you may become one of the leaders in your market.

The transition among these forms of AI is not clean-cut; they sit on a continuum. In developing their own AI strategy, many companies begin somewhere between assisted and augmented, while expecting to move toward autonomous eventually

Strategy and the Business Model

Strategy and the Business Model | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Is it true that you like the 9-boxes Business Model Canvas (BMC)? So did I. But then I've tried to use it in the practice of Strategy Management and I've realized that, for this purpose, it's rather useless, or even toxic. So, I went from liking it to a complete dislike, once the veil of widespread marveled adulation for the nine boxes has raised from my eyes. This article is about how did this happen and about how should the Business Model be presented, for using such representation as a Strategy tool.

Digitalization Strategy Framework

Digitalization Strategy Framework | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Digitization trends are reshaping the industrial world. The risk of disruption brings with it significant opportunities. BCG’s Digitization Strategy Framework provides companies with the tools needed to capture new digitization opportunities. The framework consists of a diagnosis phase that helps industrial organizations set the basis for strategy development through understanding global trends, customer needs, and competitors' activities, and to evaluate current capabilities and gaps. Organizations can then employ a set of building blocks to develop a successful digitization strategy:

Goed en overzichtelijk stappenplan om naar de social media marketing te kijken. Met de waardevolle toevoeging (die nogal eens wordt vergeten door bedrijven) dat het bij alle automatisering wel om mensen gaat en niet om logo's.

The End of Conventional Industry Sectors

The End of Conventional Industry Sectors | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
These days, few people expect to work for a single company throughout their career. But what about the expectation that companies will remain in one industry forever? Is that, too, becoming an artifact of the past?

In a new PwC report called “The Future of Industries: Bringing Down the Walls,” we look at how the boundaries among sectors are shifting. The pace of technological change is creating at least the prospect of a new industrial order, in which most companies no longer operate within the comfort zones of their established sectors. Already, a few companies (Apple, Amazon, and GE, among them) have boldly and successfully moved into new industries. Now just about every other company will have to do business that way.

Interesting insights about what may come in 2017. I found the point about CMO's going away in favor of CXO's due to the former's lack of connection to users interesting. I've believed for awhile now that a company's UX maturity could be measured by how far up the corporate ladder it started.

4 Big Social Media Lessons from Small Businesses [INFOGRAPHIC]

4 Big Social Media Lessons from Small Businesses [INFOGRAPHIC] | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Social Media is not just a method only being utilized by big brands anymore. Small businesses are starting to embrace and implement social techniques on a grander scale.

A 2012 SMB Group Study found that 20% of small businesses use social in an ad hoc, informal way- to generate leads and drive traffic to websites. The study also revealed that 24% of small businesses are using social in strategic and structured way, including data analysis of market trends and customer driven product ideas.

The businesses practicing strategic social media enjoyed a higher level of integration amongst their departments. The largest disparity between the two groups was uncovered in Customer Service. Only 8% of the companies with an informal social media environment had integrated into Customer Service, while an impressive 43% of the strategic social group integrated Customer Service.

That's quite a difference and food for though if your small business just kicking the tire with little or no social presence.
