The Undeniable Power of Data Visualization and Infographics

The Undeniable Power of Data Visualization and Infographics | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

It’s expected that only 6% of all data (read: information) comes from books and printed materials – the other 94% is digital.

90% of all data has been created and stored digitally within just the past 3 years, which is striking considering human recordkeeping dates back thousands of years!

To top that off, we’re generating about 2.5 quintillion bytes of data daily, which just adds to the amount of data we have available to us.

But the question is – what do we do with the data we collect? Many people (entrepreneurs, business owners, and data scientists) are beginning to visualize it....

We are generating more data than ever. But what can you do with that data? Data visualization can help engage your audience and increase conversions.

Separating Fiction From Facts in Data #Storytelling

Separating Fiction From Facts in Data #Storytelling | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
The field of data storytelling is still relatively new and uncharted, but it has become a hot topic in both analytics and business circles. As various people step forward to provide opinions on how to tell data stories, misinformation is creeping in which, if left unaddressed, could lead aspiring data storytellers astray. This article will separate the fiction from the facts to help more people understand what is required to tell powerful data stories.

Want to get better at data storytelling? Want to know more about what it is and how to do it? Then read this post!

Data storytelling is all the rage now. Given how many industries, companies, and businesses are drowning in big data, figuring out how to narrate the insights to be found is a big deal.

Yet lots of mistakes about how to tell a data story are being made. This is a terrific post that helps bring clarity to the entire field. It's a great read and you will come away enlightened. And hopefully better able to craft that data narrative. Enjoy.

Data Storytelling -- Clarifying What It Is, What It's Not + How To Do It

Data Storytelling -- Clarifying What It Is, What It's Not + How To Do It | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

"First, data visualization is not data storytelling. On that we agree. Data visualization, whether simple or complex, helps us make sense of data, but rarely generates insights that stimulate action."

Create High-Impact Data Visualizations: Nine Effective Strategies - Occam's Razor

Create High-Impact Data Visualizations: Nine Effective Strategies - Occam's Razor | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
In this post I want to inspire you to think differently. I’ve curated sixteen extremely diverse visualization examples to do that. By design none of them from the world of digital analytics, though I’ll stay connected to that world from a how could you use this idea perspective. My primary goal is to expand your horizon so that we can peek over and see new possibilities.

The sixteen examples neatly fall into nine strategies I hope you’ll cultivate in your analytics practice as you create data visualizations:

1: The Simplicity Obsession
2: If Complex, Focus!
3: Venn Diagrams FTW!
4: Interactivity With Insightful End-Points
5: What-if Analysis Models
6: Turbocharging Data Visuals with Storytelling
7: The Magic of 2 x 2 Matrices
8: Close Contextual Clusters
9: Multi-dimensional Related Line Graphs

Facebook doesn't show enough of a infographic to allow it to have impact. To share there, make a photo of the top and link to another site.

Ken's Key Takeaway:

I am sharing this link for two reasons.  I like that it shares a list of the most popular infographic.  I also like that it shows how to attempt to evaluate the ROI of an infographic.
