The Discovery Channel has a North American video series, and they have a clip about Belize. It's appropriately named, 'Belize, a North American Paradise.' It's not long, yet a lot is on there. "Belize, with the highest concentration of pristine rainforest in Central America and the second largest coral reef in the world, is a North American paradise."

The Garifuna Collective is on their 2 month North American tour right now, and they have started an indiegogo campaign to help raise funds for their journey. They have uploaded a video on the page from their rehearsal at the Soul Project here in Cayo. They'll spend 55 days on the road, travel 18,450 miles, and will have had 275 Hotel rooms when it's all finished.
"We have embarked on a historic two month tour of North America performing at many prestigious music festivals and venues in Canada and the United States. The tour includes some 25 cities such as Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago, Washington DC, Edmonton, Portland, Calgary, Minneapolis, Winnipeg and New York. This tour coincides with the release of Ayo (Goodbye), our long anticipated album in honour of Belize's late cultural icon, Andy Palacio."

The BBC has a great article about chocolate in Belize. AJAW Chocolate in Cayo is one of many mentioned.
"There are nearly a dozen artisan chocolate companies in Belize taking cacao from bean to bar, part of a robust movement to reclaim the small country's rich chocolate heritage...
Cacao – the principal ingredient for chocolate – was both consumed and used as currency by ancient Maya royalty and political elites throughout the historical region of Mesoamerica, which included southern North America and most of Central America. But not all those areas were suitable for cultivating cacao."

Musical Interlude. The Garifuna Collective has rested up after their North American tour, and are leaving tomorrow to start their European tour. They received amazing reviews up north, and no doubt they'll do very well in Europe, and have a great time doing it. Here they are on Open Your Eyes.
