The Belize Jazz and Culture Concert is coming to Cayo. It'll be held at the Jaguar Auditorium on Friday, September 12th, starting at 7:00pm. The first performance got great reviews. "The Belize Music Agency is hosting an encore presentation of the Belize Jazz and Culture Show (a BSCAP licensed event) which took place in Belize City on August 16, 2014."

The Western Ballaz defeated the Belmopan Bandits last night at the Jaguar auditorium in Belmopan. The final score was 46-58. "The Western Ballaz, and a couple 100 of their fans, travelled to Belmopan to play the Bandits. It was a good game, with a good turnout, and the Ballaz won 46-58. The Ballaz travel to Dangriga next weekend to play the Warriors. The after party was at Wing Stop Belmopan."

Sacred Heart College scored some victories at the Regional basketball tournament, which was held at UB's jaguar auditorium. The boys came in first, and the girls came in 2nd. The Nationals will be in 2 weeks at SHC's auditorium.

The University of Belize is having their second annual Diabetes Conference, in recognition of World Diabetes Day, tomorrow at the Jaguar auditorium, starting at 8:30am. The theme is 'Diabetes: Protect Our Future.'
"As part of the opening ceremony there will be the pinning of the newly elected executives members for the Belize Diabetes Association – Belmopan Branch (BDAB)... One of our goals, is to educate persons with diabetes and the general public on how to change and manage lifestyle practices so that their health would be improved. In addition to health presentations however, the conference is aimed at providing a holistic approach in serving the audience with valuable information."

September is over, so here's one last album from the September Celebrations. The University of Belize had their Patriotic Day celebrations, and they recognized some outstanding patriots, and had poetry, song, and dress competitions.
"Two Belizeans were recognised for being outstanding patriots at the University of Belize Annual Patriotic Day held on September 18, at the Jaguar Auditorium, Belmopan. They are Mrs. Arcadia Carillo, who served Belize for 55 years as a teacher. The other recipient of this prestigious award was Rowan Garel for inspiring others through his accomplishments towards making Belize a better country for the visually impaired. Both patriots were presented with plaques by the Deputy Mayor of Belmopan City Council, Mr. Joel Westby."

Derek Anderson gave a motivational speech entitled 'Stamina' at UB last week.
"Former NBA player, Derek Anderson delivered a Motivational Speech on Entrepreneurship to basketball players and members of the surrounding areas of Belmopan on August 8 at the Jaguar Auditorium, University of Belize, Central Campus, Belmopan. He is one of 13 players who've won an NBA Championship in 2006 with the Miami Heat, and an NCAA Championship. Growing up poor and without parents who had left him to the streets, Derek found his inner self-motivation that led to his success as a producer, philanthropist, inventor and author. His inspirational story is detailed in his book titled 'Stamina.' Derek’s visit to Belize is to reach out and help others who have found themselves in similar situation as he did. He retired from the NBA in 2008."

The idea of life after basketball is a reality for all athletes. I had the privilege of sitting with Derrek Anderson several months ago as he presented his new book "Stamina". It is a relative word that means so much than sports conditioning. In order for any and all athletes to be successful, they must possess "Stamina" off the court as well.
