UB's Evening of the Arts

UB's Evening of the Arts | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The University of Belize is having their very first Evening of the Arts tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8th. They'll have art from the famous Carolyn Carr, and also Valerie Penner, an up-and-coming artist, who did an exhibition at the Soul Project recently.  The event will also have music and poetry from the talented UB family.

"The upcoming Evening of the Arts, which will take place on April 8th from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature the works of two visual artists: Valerie Penner, an Associate's degree student here at UB whose work is presently on display at the Bliss, and Carolyn Carr, a well-known, very accomplished Belizean artist.  The evening's line-up will also include about a dozen sensationally gifted vocalists, pianists and poets who are students, faculty, and esteemed friends of UB.  The event is free of charge, so bring your family and friends, and let's make it a lovely, fun-filled evening."

Belize's Central Wildlife Corridor

Belize's Central Wildlife Corridor | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The Belize Zoo was the location for action planning about the Central Wildlife Corridor, which is the area that connects the northern preserves to the Mayan Mountains in the south, allowing the movement of animals so they can have better access to their natural habitat and genetically mix.

"Thousands of people are admiring the beautiful billboard located along the Western Highway which broadcasts the Wildlife Corridor of Central Belize.  The stunning photo of the margay cat, a resident of these important lands, was taken by photographer Carol Farneti-Foster.  Carol, along with her photo assistant at times, niece Aleacia Jensen, kindly agreed to be a part of this photograph.  Both are  big fans of the Corridor concept and of course, they  love one of the special places found within the Wildlife Corridor, The Belize Zoo!  On the opposite side of the billboard is an attractive painting showing the Wildlife Corridor, and this was provided by long-time Belizean resident artist, Carolyn Carr.  Both images reflect the beauty and the importance of these remaining wild lands in Belize."
