From their inceptions, Uber and Lyft have made driver recruitment a beautiful, enticing process: Sign on and we’ll give you $500, they say. What these companies don’t explain, except perhaps in the small print, is that these perks are ephemeral, that they can lure drivers in and then cut rates or increase the amount they, Uber and Lyft, pocket at any time they chose.

More than a year ago the Süddeutsche Zeitung was contacted by a source who was intent on staying anonymous. The source called himself “John Doe” and offered internal data belonging to the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. The Süddeutsche Zeitung decided to analyze the data in cooperation with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). In the course of the research the cooperation was extended to include more than 100 media organizations from over 80 countries. The publication of the Panama Papers caused an enormous stir all over the globe: Politicians and functionaries had to resign, there was a large amount of public protest, and the stories led to raids and investigations in dozens of countries.
Now “John Doe”, the anonymous source, has sent the SZ a manifesto, which can be read as an explanation of his actions – and as a call to action. The manifesto and its inherent political stance had no editorial influence on the reporting by the SZ or of any of the other cooperating media organizations – nor will it influence them in the future. The SZ did not have to agree to any conditions concerning the reporting in order to receive the data of the Panama Papers.

The documentary follows Daniel Mross, a self proclaimed libertarian and computer programmer in Pittsburgh. Mross got involved with Bitcoin in 2011, a few years after the crypto-currency got started, and quickly built his own Bitcoin mining tools, garnering him a bounty of Bitcoin. En gardant le principe d’une monnaie universelle qui reste un moyen efficace d’échanger des biens et des services, le projet Kronos tente d’apporter une réponse en modifiant le paradigme de l’échange : Au lieu de baser la monnaie sur l’inflation ou la déflation d’une valeur factice, il serait sans doute plus pertinent de lui substituer la réelle valeur qui préside ces échanges : le temps humain.
Ce temps humain, c’est à dire le temps passé à réaliser ou transmettre une chose, devrait être une valeur fondamentale, inaliénable et universelle.
Le projet Kronos propose donc la création d’une monnaie dont l’index est basé sur ce temps humain. Ainsi, à une unité de cette monnaie, un Kronos, correspond une heure d’activité dépensée par une personne ou un groupe de personne.

Les valorisations des startups dites "technologiques" explosent. Mais ces entreprises - qui pour la plupart ne créent pas de valeur - sont peu rentables et précarisent le travail - devraient bientôt connaître un retour de bâton.
Les politiques monétaires très expansionnistes mises en œuvre depuis la crise financière de 2007-2008 ont un défaut majeur : elles peuvent fausser les prix des actifs. Elles risquent ainsi d'entraîner une mauvaise allocation des ressources disponibles, et d'abord des capitaux. Confrontés à des placements qui ne rapportent plus rien à cause de taux d'intérêt proches de zéro, les capitaux sont lancés dans une course au rendement, coûte que coûte.
C'est vrai des actions cotées, bien sûr, l'évolution des cours ces dernières années ayant été largement soutenue par les flux financiers vers les marchés actions. Mais le coté a ses limites, et même baignés par l'euphorie, les marchés finissent en général par se raisonner sur la base des résultats des entreprises. C'est en revanche beaucoup moins vrai pour tout ce qui touche à l'investissement dans le non-coté.
