Book (and more) : Prototyping Interfaces - interactive sketches with vvvv | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Interaction Designers and Media Artists develop our digital life. They concept, sketch and create new possible solutions of technology, which are evaluated with functional and technical prototypes. The book “Prototyping Interfaces – Interaktive Skizzen mit vvvv” is centred around this topic. While there is an introduction to the book which is focused on the benefits of prototyping, the main focus is to give a “hands on” understanding how to handle different technologies in a creative way.

What is it about? Prototyping interactive systems is used in many different areas. Media Art, Product Development or Scientific Research. An introduction features several authors and experienced practitioners who show how they use prototyping in their daily work. The second chapter is focused on a basic toolset to give a solid and step by step starting position. Therefore the programming language vvvv is featured in a printed book for the first time. vvvv is chosen as the perfect language to develop fast and visual appealing software, based on a visual programming metaphor. In order to take use, manipulate and reanrange existing products and technologies, the Arduino platform is introduced as first step to communicate with the physical world. The biggest chapter of the book features several application examples around the topics: Sensors, Displays, Tracking Technologies and Actuators.
