otolab >> éducation ¦¦ music, djs, vjs, videoartists, videomakers, web graphic designer, architecte... | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Otolab was founded in 2001 in Milan by an affinity group of musicians, djs, vjs, videoartists, videomakers, web designers, graphic designers and architects joined to go through a common path in the field of the electronic music and audiovisual research.

The projects are developed through lab sessions, seminars and live performance according to the principles of brainstorming and mutual support, free circulation of knowledge and experimentation.

The production includes collective and individual projects managed with languages ranging from experimental electronics to techno, dub and industrial sonorities, always looking for a symbiotic relationship with image and video.
Otolab is a cultural association committed to create live media and installations and to carry out audio and audiovisual projects, seminars and workshops.

In these years, Otolab members have been welcomed to festivals, cultural events, museums, national and international galleries and have contributed to the realization of self-managed cultural initiatives

AVOL - interactive online AV project - by Video Jack André Carrilho and Nuno N. Correia | Digital #MediaArt(s) Numérique(s) | Scoop.it

Video Jack started in 2004 as a collaborative project between Portuguese artists André Carrilho and Nuno Correia for audiovisual art and VJing. Video Jack aim to combine animation, music and interactivity in a cohesive way, often using narrative elements. They explore different means to get the audience involved with their work – in their performances, the interface is apparent to the audience, and their projects are also released as interactive installations and net art projects. André is an illustrator / designer and works for such publications as The New Yorker, The Independent and Vanity Fair. Nuno Correia is a musician and a PhD student at Media Lab Helsinki, where he also teaches.

They have performed and showcased work in more than 15 countries and in such festivals and venues as Electro-Mechanica (St. Petersburg), FILE (São Paulo), Le Cube (Paris), Mapping (Geneva), NAME (Lille), PixelAche / Kiasma (Helsinki), Optronica / British Film Institute (London), Re-New (Copenhagen) and SXSW (Austin). As VJs, they have contributed visuals to top international DJs, such as Boys Noize, DJ Koze, Ellen Allien, Erol Alkan, Ikonika, Loco Dice, Matthew Dear, Radio Slave, Rub-n-Tug and Tiefschwarz.

Lissajous, a new interesting Audio and Visual generator by the creative Audiobulb team // #soundart #mediaart

A demonstration video of Lissajous - an audio visual software module for Mac OS.

Lissajous is a complex audio/video signal generator built in Max/MSP and inspired by the work of Jules Antoine Lissajous.

The software shows sound oscillations as XY matrix functions and creates complex graphics curves. Lissajous graphically describes sound and allow observation of constantly varying signal voltage of two audio signals as function of time. Video generated by sound can be controlled in endless ways by giving to the user the possibility of a whole-new range of interactions.
