Angreifer setzen offenbar erneut auf "Mein iPhone suchen", um das Gerät aus der Ferne zu sperren. Die Freigabe des iPhones erfolge nur nach Zahlung einer Lösegeldsumme, so die Drohung.

Apples iCloud-Fernortungsfunktion kommt erneut für Erpressungsversuche zum Einsatz, wie die Sicherheitsseite CSO berichtet. Russischsprachige Angreifer sperren dabei das iPhone oder iPad des Opfers aus der Ferne und schicken eine Benachrichtigung, die die Zahlung von Lösegeld erfordert. Derzeit sind angeblich besonders Nutzer in Europa und den USA betroffen.

Die Angreifer hoffen offenbar, dass das Opfer schon bezahlt hat, bevor es bemerkt, dass es tatsächlich weiter auf das eigene Gerät zugreifen kann. Das Fern-Setzen einer neuen PIN ist nämlich nur für Macs, nicht aber bei iOS-Geräten möglich – zumindest wenn dort die Code-Sperre eingerichtet wurde.

"Mein iPhone suchen" als Angriffsvektor
Für die Angriffe kommt den Berichten zufolge Apples Sicherheitsfunktion "Mein iPhone suchen" zum Einsatz: Sie ermöglicht, das Gerät aus der Ferne in den Verloren-Modus zu versetzen und dem Nutzer eine Nachricht zu übermitteln. Dies ist eigentlich dafür gedacht, um eine Kontaktmöglichkeit für den ehrlichen Finder zu hinterlegen.

Fortunately, users today have access to a variety of backup options. You can add an extra layer of protection to your Mac computer by stepping beyond the Apple ecosystem of TimeMachine nearline backups and iCloud synchronization and embracing a third-party cloud backup solution.

MACBOOK USERS are increasingly being targeted by malware and backdoors, according to Malwarebytes' analysis of cyber crime and malware in the first quarter of 2017.

Chief among this surge in macOS threats is the FindZip Mac ransomware, for which even the developers don't have a decryption key, leaving users high and dry after ransom has been paid.

Erstmals zielt funktionstüchtige Ransomware auf OS-X-Nutzer ab. Nach der Infektion bleiben drei Tage, bis "KeRanger" Dokumente verschlüsselt. Nutzer sollten prüfen, ob sie betroffen sind – und Gegenmaßnahmen ergreifen.

Die Mac-Schad-Software "KeRanger" setzte als Infektionsweg – soweit bislang bekannt – auf den BitTorrent-Client Transmission. Die Angreifer hatten offenbar Zugriff auf den Server, über den das OS-X-Programm verteilt wird. Das normale Disk-Image mit Transmission 2.90 sei durch eine manipulierte Version ersetzt worden, die nach Angabe der Entwickler nur rund 6500 Mal heruntergeladen wurde.

Nach der Infektion wartet KeRanger drei Tage ab, bis die Malware anfängt, Nutzerdokumente zu verschlüsseln, als Lösegeld wird vom Nutzer dann ein Bitcoin gefordert, umgerechnet rund 380 Euro. Es ist möglich, dass KeRanger künftig auch auf andere Wege zur Infektion setzt.

Des chercheurs en sécurité ont découvert ce qu’ils pensent être la toute première attaque par ransomware ou rançongiciel ciblant les utilisateurs de Mac d’Apple. Cette menace est actuellement active sur Internet et se diffuse via un logiciel de téléchargement de fichiers Torrent.

Cette attaque a été détectée en toute fin de semaine dernière par des chercheurs de Palo Alto Networks. Ces derniers ont donc identifié un ransomware, "KeRanger", dissimulé au sein d’un client BitTorrent populaire sous OS X, Transmission.

Users of BitTorrent client app Transmission became the first reported victims of Mac ransomware this week. People who downloaded infected versions of the app also received "KeRanger" malware, 9to5Mac says, nefarious software that would encrypt a user's hard drive three days after being installed and demand payment to unlock the data.
