12 June 2012 : After a Long Long Period of Waiting, U.S T-Mobile , has Finally Released the Official 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS Update for T-Mobile Based Samsung Galaxy S II yesterday viz June 11 @ 11pm EST/ 8pm PST . Unfortunately, The ICS Update is Not OTA (Over The Air). Rather it requires the Users to Upgrade using Kies Software and a Computer Connected to Internet as Kies Downloads the Update.
US T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II will get the Software Updated to Android Version 4.0.3 / SoftwareT989UVLE1 via Kies. This update changes the Android OS to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), and Improves Performance and Stability. As previously announced the software update will only be available via Kies, and will not be an Over The Air (OTA) Update.
Procedure :
1. To get the Update, Download and Install the Kies Software onto your computer
2. Then Connect your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II via a USB cable to Computer / Kies (making sure USB Debugging is enabled)
3. Then simply Accept the update. Be sure you have the latest software available, as Android 2.3.6 is required to upgrade to 4.0.3 ICS .
4. Device May Boot and at the End ICS ICe Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 Gets Installed in Your Device
Note : While the update won't wipe all the data on your smartphone (your contacts, apps, etc. should all remain intact), it does restore the homescreen settings to factory default. Nevertheless, it is recommended that you backup your data beforehand just to be safe.
