Want the job...invest a few minutes to read the job posting and company website!
In my opinion most large organizations and about half of mid-size companies have invested in an Applicant Tracking System to help them with the recruitment process. This is software that works to sort, filiter, access, and search for applicants to save HR and recruiters time.
If you want to increase the chances of your resume being seen by a human, then you need to understand how the filtering process works. Some systems automatically rank the resumes for the recruiters. So what do HR and recruiters usually enter into the system to surface the top resumes?
Usually they go to the job posting, job descriptions, and company values as a starting place.
So before you post your resume, go to the job posting and ensure that your summary or profile is targeted to the position, ensure that your strengths or competencies speak to the ones that are important for the position, make sure that the job experience, skills, and technical skills are laid out with the same industry terms.
Also, one last tip if the job title that you have is the same position; however, your company uses a trendy title....place the similar title next to yours in the resume.
For example: if the position you are applying for is Marketing Coordinator; however your company calls is Marketing Assistant Like below. Then make sure that the responsibilities actually reflect the same or similar responsibilities. Marketing Assistant (Marketing Coordinator responsibilities) - -
Hope this helps....please let me know if you have any specific questions for me! Make it a great day!
