(MULTI)-(PDF) - LanguaL 2010 - Multilingual Food Thesaurus | Anders Møller and Jayne Ireland

"LanguaL stands for "Langua aLimentaria” or “language of food". It is an automated method for describing, capturing and retrieving data about food. The work on LanguaL was started in the late 1970’s by the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an ongoing co-operative effort of specialists in food technology, information science and nutrition. The original name of the thesaurus was Factored Food Vocabulary (FFV).

Since then, LanguaL has been developed in collaboration with the US National Cancer Institute (NCI), and, more recently, its European partners, notably in France, Denmark, Switzerland and Hungary. Since 1996, the European LanguaL Technical Committee has administered the thesaurus. The thesaurus provides a standardised language for describing foods, specifically for classifying food products for information retrieval.

(MULTI)-(PDF) - The INTIX Dictionary: A glossary of ticketing terms | intix.org

"The INTIX Dictionary has been a work in progress for several years. While the official language of our conferences is English, we are very aware that it is not the first language of many of our members. Although the first version was published as an accommodation for these members, it soon became apparent that its usefulness was much better. As an example, many of our members find it valuable when traveling. It was first published in 1994 for the Europe Talks Tickets Conference & Exhibition in Amsterdam. Mathieu Heinrichs, Assistant Director, Music Centre Vredenburg, spearheaded the effort.

The European Conference Committee made out lists of ticketing terms that were subsequently translated into Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, and Italian. Later, Japanese, Spanish, and Czech were added. This year there is a Swedish translation in time for Europe Talks Tickets 2002 in Gothenburg.

We depend on members to update and supply terms, translations and definitions. We ask your participation in the continuing work on the Dictionary and ..."
