21st Century Learning and Teaching

With the current pandemic in the world, the situation seems pretty scary. The Corona virus might be anywhere. As far as we know, one might carry the virus for a few days without even showing any symptoms. Scary indeed.

But hey, don't get too scared. There are some easy ways we can fight against this virus. One is to wash our hands, properly. Our hands are the main carrier of all sorts of germs. We frequently touch our eyes, nose, and mouth without even noticing it. Germs from unwashed hands might get into our food as well, some of which may even grow in the food and when we eat those, they can make us seriously sick. And washing hands with soap can mostly kill them.

If you’re ever wanted to make something awesome, but thought that you just didn’t have the right tools to do so, this soda fountain by “The Wrench” could provide the needed inspiration. 

The project uses an Arduino Nano to control a small air pump via a relay, which turns on when a glass is the correct dispensing position. This pushes air into a sealed soda bottle, and soda is pushed out of another tube to equalize the pressure.

SO, as I got my new Super Starter Kit UNO R3 Project I am playing around a bit with it. In my previous post WE were wiring and testing a LCD-Display and coding to display a bit text on the LCD. That was actually very easy, so lets try out now some “Sensors“, e.g. a Temperature/Humidity Sensor and a Ultrasonic Sensor to measure distances. The measured values of those sensors will get displayed on the LCD-Display.

Much like my previous Ultrasonic Sensor tutorial, the Young Makers need to be able to trigger an event when someone walks past a display. In their case, they need to make an element on a poster move when someone walks within three feet of the ultrasonic sensor.
