As both educators and students get used to remote learning, the onus is now more on parents to support their children through homeschool, and that means parents themselves need support. At Arduino Education, we want to help you and your children by making remote learning experiences as smooth (and fun!) as possible.

Learning electronics and coding at home
As parents to children aged 11-plus, learning electronics and coding with them at home may not be something you’d ever think you’d be doing. But don’t worry, it really isn’t as daunting as it sounds, and electronics and coding skills are crucial in the world your children are growing up in.

A switch must have at least two terminals, one for the current to (potentially) go in, another to (potentially) come out. That only describes the simplest version of a switch though. More often than not, a switch has more than two pins. So how do all of those terminals line up with the internal workings of the switch? This is where knowing how many poles and throws a switch has is essential.

The number of poles* on a switch defines how many separate circuits the switch can control. So a switch with one pole, can only influence one single circuit. A four-pole switch can separately control four different circuits.

A switch’s throw-count defines how many positions each of the switch’s poles can be connected to. For example, if a switch has two throws, each circuit (pole) in the switch can be connected to one of two terminals.

Vor einigen Tagen haben wir Ihnen in einem Beitrag gezeigt, wie Sie selbsterstellte Zeichen wie z.B. Umlaute auf einem 1602 oder 2004 LC Display ausgeben können.

Die dort veröffentlichte Zeichentabelle beinhaltet jedoch bereits die Zeichen für "äöüß°µ" und "Ω". Für viele Anwendungen würden diese schon reichen.

Da sich die Tabelle jedoch nicht an den UTF-8 Standard hält, können diese Zeichen nicht ohne weiteres ausgegeben werden.

Über eine sogenannte Escape-Sequenz können wir jedoch den Chip direkt anweisen ein bestimmtes Zeichen auszugeben.

Story
It's October again and I wanted to come up with a Halloween project using a Raspberry Pi. I saw a few haunted portraits scattered here and there but none of them really presented much in the way of a scare, just some simple movement.

I decided to expand on that idea and started looking for some good jump scare type videos I could use. This lead me to AtmosFx they have some really cool Unliving Portrait videos that are only $7.99 each. These were perfect for what I had in mind and allowed me to have more than one jump scare video that I could select manually or have it run each one at random.

Here is a video of the finished project.

In our case, we use NODEMCU ESP8266, but you can use any other type of ESP8266 with all pins exposed. In our program, we connect D0, D1, D2, and D3 in a circuit, which controls the relays.
