This is reinforcing at a principle level the possibilities for teaching and learning that are becoming reality. A flexible digital curriculum like the Australian Curriculum is certainly a key ingredient.

Too often, schools bring only tepid energy to the blending of traditional and online learning, Charles Mojkowski says.
That sounds promising, but all of that capability must be matched by a worthy partner. And educators have been far from worthy. To the blend, they add a stale array of timeworn and tepid ingredients:
• A 20th-century school organizational structure; • A fixation on providing the same learning outcomes for every student; “Educators are failing to exploit the new and emerging technologies in ways that will give student learning opportunities the jolt they need.”• A focus on external motivational techniques; • A rigid curricular scope and sequence for all students; • An asphyxiating and narrow assessment system; and • A separation of in-school from out-of-school learning.

Creativity is an esential part of the blended learning. It is important to highlight the noncognitive skills that students possess. It also important to acknowledge that not all students learn the same. Competency-based education allows non-traditional learnings to compete with traditional learners.

This article talks about how a type of learning called blended learning has been created to put minds at ease. It was created to help engage students in a deeper type of learning than the usual shallow learning implemented in a classroom. It relates because students are allowed to discuss their success without feeling the pressure of failure.

Blended learning has much potential. However, it is only PART of the solution to why ails education today. It is not a replacement for funding. Adequate funding, whether online of f2f, must go hand in hand. You can't maximize the potential of education while cutting necessary $$$.

For those who don’t know the Gestalt Community Schools, they are an outstanding set of charter schools that believe in building better communities through education; They are achieving excellent results for their students who mainly hail from low-income communities. Innovation abounds at Gestalt’s middle and high schools where students and teachers are using a rotational blended learning model that focuses on closing skill deficits in literacy and numeracy.
In this model, students rotate through 3 learning stations:
- The first is direct instruction from the teacher,
- the second is guided practice in small groups,
- and the third is independent digital practice prescribed by the classroom teacher.
