Models For Designing Your Personal Learning Environment | LEARNingPath

Models For Designing Your Personal Learning Environment | LEARNingPath | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

A personal learning environment (PLE) is a solution for keeping up with the rapid pace of knowledge change. Some say it is a concept, while others say it is a technology.

I think a good definition is this: a self-directed and evolving environment of tools, services and resources organized by a person seeking a way to accomplish lifetime learning, to create, and to connect with others of similar interests.

Because it is personalized, everyone’s PLE will be unique. Because it is collaborative, information may be continually created and shared. In the workplace, designing a personal learning environment has the potential to partially replace conventional courses.

Nichelle Plivelic's comment, March 6, 2014 7:57 AM
There are three main stages to personalized learning, which involves the teacher figuring out how each student learns individually and establishing goals for the students. A teacher can change the physical layout if this helps(when working with children who are easily distracted, such as those with ADHD or autism, it's best to get rid of as many distractions as possible). The student will learn at their own pace in whatever way is the most effective.

Connectivism: Learning as a Community - Designed 2 Learn | Learning To Learn | Collaboration

Connectivism: Learning as a Community - Designed 2 Learn | Learning To Learn | Collaboration | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
In a modern world where knowledge objects are ubiquitous and openly accessible, the roles of educators and learners must evolve to meet the growing needs of the resulting high-paced, digital society. Connectivism is an emergent, net-enabled learning theory that suggests the most important result of a learning situation is the ability of the learner to make connections between distinct ideas using social capital and the affordances of digital networks.

ICT training of university teachers in a Personal Learning Environment

ICT training of university teachers in a Personal Learning Environment | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

Abstract:

Developing an information and knowledge society involves the incorporation of technological tools into education. This can only happen if teachers are properly qualified to include such tools into the classroom dynamics. The present article brings to the forefront a training proposal framed within an R&D project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation under the title of “Design, production and evaluation in a 2.0 learning environment for the training of university teachers in the educational use of Information and Communication Technologies

(ICTs) (EDU2009-08 893),” which has as its aim to incorporate technology tools both into classroom dynamics and into teachers’ professional development.

What is a PLN? Or, PLE vs. PLN?

What is a PLN? Or, PLE vs. PLN? | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
I am currently writing a chapter regarding open and networked learning. I have used the term Personal Learning Network (PLN) dozens of times over the last few years, and have seen it mentioned countless times in blog and microblog posts, and other forms of media. However, I cannot seem to find a solid reference or definition for the concept of PLN. I sent out several email messages asking people if knew of an existing article or reference for the PLN definition, and I have yet to receive a response. About the best lead I could find was a post from Stephen Downes that mentioned “Dave Warlick has taken the concept of the Personal Learning Environment, renamed it (to Personal Learning Network).”
