9 Keys to Being an Inspirational Leader

9 Keys to Being an Inspirational Leader | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
I am fascinated by what it takes to be an extraordinary leader–an inspirational leader. I am fascinated by WHY some leaders seem to magically make a huge impact on the world while others do not  — Steve Jobs being one case in point, as he changed forever the lives of people and the world with his vision.  Let us ponder the question, “Are we all born leaders”? In a certain way I believe we are. We are ultimately leaders of our own lives and destinies. We become leaders of our families and communities, and many take on leadership positions in business. However, holding a leadership title does not guarantee that we have what it takes to inspire others and make a lasting positive impact. I recently came across a quote that speaks to this: “Leaders are not born. They are made. Who makes them? They make themselves.” ~ Peter Castenbaum, Corporate Mystic.

A picture speaks a thousand words - some good resources here for visual content and creation to add a visual dimension to your messages, which tend to perform much better for opens and clicks than text alone.

Teach Children Well: So Much Repetition, So Many Posts! Why?

Teach Children Well: So Much Repetition, So Many Posts! Why? | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

So Much Repetition, So Many Posts! Why?  I repeat.
I post.
About similar topics again and again.

   Why?

I know schools hold tremendous promise for better lives.

I am no longer satisfied with schools that serve purposes other than students.

Our students hold tremendous potential for a positive, peaceful world.

We are capable of building schools that nurture, transform, and strengthen culture. Children can learn with happiness.

Childhood is a precious time, and we need to embrace, support, and nurture children.

None of us know it all, we benefit from working together, sharing our wisdom, and integrating our strengths.

The status quo does not fit the present need. Schools of old served some well, but not all.  I believe we have the potential to serve all if we see schools as learning communities and embrace a broad definition of "school."

So, I will continue to repeat, post, and think because I believe it matters--I believe we hold potent potential in our hands as educators today--we are fortunate to be in the business of making things better, nurturing students' strengths, and building positive communities.

When Students Are Inspired, They and Their Teachers Are Happier

When Students Are Inspired, They and Their Teachers Are Happier | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Happiness interview: Andrew Mangino. By Gretchen Rubin...

How can we usher in a new era of happiness (and inspiration) in America's schools?

I had to include this question because it's the one I think about every day!

Our team at The Future Project believes that just as there is an achievement gap, there is also an inspiration deficit in our schools. When students (and teachers, administrators, custodians, coaches, and parents) are not inspired, they are not happy -- at least not as happy as they could be! Nor do they learn well; reform, we believe, must be built on a foundation of inspiration. So, we're aiming to bring about the world in which all students have found something that inspires and truly excites them, whether civil engineering, French food, botany, or the Roaring Twenties, and channeled it to improve the world around them. All before finishing high school!
