Malware On Mobile Grew 163% In 2012, Infecting Around 32.8M Android Devices, Report Says - BYOD

Malware On Mobile Grew 163% In 2012, Infecting Around 32.8M Android Devices, Report Says - BYOD | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Mobile service provider NQ Mobile today released a study of malware covering 2012, using data gathered from the company's Security Labs.

NQ’s data indicates that Android is a big risk for malware, but iOS has also recently come under fire for free apps that leak more personal data than on other platforms. Overall, mobile security is likely to be a growing concern, and one that could potentially become more complicated as the pace of improvements to mobile tech increases and our usage of those devices grows higher still.

===> For now, common sense is probably the best defense against security threats, but a more unified Android platform would help to limit malware problems as well as significantly improve developers’ lives. <===

Introducing BeSeen - Web Wise Kids

Introducing BeSeen - Web Wise Kids | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

BeSeen is provided by Carnegie Mellon University and Web Wise Kids to teach youth how to be responsible in social networks by securing their private and personal information, protecting their online reputation and defending their peers.

This online safety mobile application is a single-player game that simulates a social networking website. The player creates a profile and starts earning “friend” characters and interacting with them. They learn about others through their posts and help them through challenges in order to win awards and make new friends.

In BeSeen, the ultimate quest is to make friends. At first, that is a matter of getting involved in school activities, but as more friends join a social circle, they bring their problems with them.

To keep friends and make more, it’s important not only to be involved but to be a good friend. Who is up for the challenge?

Web Wise Kids' President Judi Westberg Warren discusses how their BeSeen app, like Web Wise Kids' other games, teaches youth ===> how to think critically about the decisions they make online and on social networks. <===

As it is expected, in the last years, internet has become an essential tool for day to day activities including those with academic purposes. Now, an enterprise that never stops amazing its customers is apple since it can be guaranteed, from my perspective, Apple is the most innovative company talking about technology and new ways of using the net. Presently, Apple released 48 apps specially to be used in ipads that can help the learning process in the current classrooms. These apps are fused with different interests that our students can have such as music, cartoons and games, and they are mixed with certain areas that students are developing in their learning process. Also, parents will love these apps as the title in the article says because their children can spend time on their technological devices doing something different that leisure activities.
