Earth Day 2013 is right around the corner. Are you planning on incorporating the annual event in your classroom?
There are many different learning opportunities on Earth Day, whether it's science-based investigations or researching the environment. To help, we've compiled a list of resources that teachers can use to bring Earth Day to students. The first is a great American Experience Documentary from PBS, which examining our country's eco-activism past, and we've also highlighted great Earth Day lesson plans, recommended reading lists, and ideas for classroom activities.

Seen from space the Earth is covered in a blue mantle. It is a planet on which the continents are dwarfed by the oceans surrounding them and the immensity of the marine realm.
The oceans provide vital sources of protein, energy, minerals and other products of use the world over and the rolling of the sea across the planet creates over half our oxygen, drives weather systems and natural flows of energy and nutrients around the world, transports water masses many times greater than all the rivers on land combined and keeps the Earth habitable.
